New for 2009, the second generation 911 Type 997 launched a host of forward thinking technologies--an all new direct fuel injection (DFI) motor put out 345 hp, just 10 shy of the first gen S models, the Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) 7 speed dual clutch gearbox improved shift times, performance, efficiency and comfort, and finally the PCM 3.0 brought Porsche into the modern, touchscreen world with navigation, Bluetooth, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, in an easy-to-use format. Coupled with those technological advances, improvements in creature comforts, as exemplified by the ventilated seats, made the second generation 997 a much more desirable 911 than the first generation cars.
