Limited production, super low mileage Turbo Grand Prix
Pontiac collaborated with ASC McLaren in 1989 & 1990 to produce these one-of-a-kind Grand Prix's, the predecessor to the GTP. General consensus is that in 1989, only 750 were produced, split evenly between Red & Black cars. The cars came almost completely loaded with options, and most of them also had sunroofs, ASC being the American Sunroof Corporation at the time. This car is somewhat rarer than most of its brethren, as it did not have a sunroof installed, which makes for a tighter car. Notable standard equipment was the first 'Heads Up Display' for Pontiac, and an interior exclusive to this model that rivaled some of the finest cars available in 1989. The 3.1 litre engine was reworked by ASC, turbocharged & intercooled to produce 205hp & 225 ft/lb of torque. ASC also tweaked the transmission & suspension for better performance. When introduced, the car would run the 1/4 mile in the 15 second range & 0-60mph in the 7's. Economy was very good, and currently I have been getting 30+ mpg (US) or 7.5L/100km on the highway.
Originally an Arizona car, it moved to Texas with 2nd owner & is now in Canada with 3rd owner. Vehicle shows like new, with the exception of a couple minor scratches & scuffs. Original Goodyear Eagle GT 'gatorback' rubber still on car & in excellent condition. Front tires show slightly more wear than rear, likely due to FWD layout. Car is completely stock condition, other than the battery which was recently replaced. The A/C blows nice & cold.
The full list of options, as well as initial MSRP is visible on the original window sticker, displayed in the gallery. Sale includes Pontiac brochures from 1989, complete service manuals from Pontiac for 1989 as well as owners manual & documents. This is a great opportunity to own an almost new piece of Pontiac history, as well as a very classy car. You will not be disappointed.
