For sale is my beautiful 1983 Cadillac Patriot edition, with only 55,000 original miles. Everything is original including the engine, paint, chrome, leather interior, dash and door panels, wheel covers, carpeting, carriage roof and headliner. The only things replaced were the bumper fillers, which the previous owner had professionally done, and they match perfectly. This is simply a very beautiful special edition Cadillac that has been very well taken care of both mechanically and cosmetically, as you can see in the photos. Brand new high capacity battery just installed 7/1/16. The engine is the infamous HT4100, which has been gently adult driven by 3 other owners, all members of the Central Pennsylvania Region of the Cadillac LaSalle Club. This car has been collector owned since new, and kept in pristine condition for over 33 years.
Now, a little history on the rarity of the Patriot Edition.
"By model year 1983 Cadillac was trying to forget. On the third year of its restyled 1980 lineup Caddy was trying to leave in the rear view mirror the horrors known as the Cimarron and the V8-6-4 engine that had very bad cylinder deactivation. By 1983 Cadillac had classier restyled grills, updated trim and colors.
A giant leap forward kinda sorta was the HT4100 engine with digital fuel injection, cast iron cylinders inside an aluminum block. Adding to Cadillac's bad rep was that some early engines suffered from soft camshafts causing lifter failure and more ticking than Big Ben.
Most were fixed under warranty by your local embarrassed Cadillac service department. Shifting was done by a new for 83 four speed automatic overdrive transmission. Full power was standard as was the excellent climate control system. Your base 1983 Coupe DeVille would set you back $15,249. Not too much dough for a Reagan era Yuppie.
Wanting to have a special Coupe DeVille of their own, Northeast Cadillac dealers created a RARE and UNIQUE EDITION called "THE PATRIOT". All Patriot Editions were painted in color code C19, known as Wedgewood Blue. A 1980's era fake convertible or carriage roof was finished in white or blue canvas. Interiors in your Patriot were supple white leather with dark blue piping, rug, and dashboard.
Very few Patriot DeVille's were built in 1983, making it a VERY RARE CADILLAC. Rare 1980's era cars are rising in value fast."
As for the collector value of the car, Vintage Auto Appraisal, located in Port Jefferson, NY and Carlisle, PA, appraised an almost identical 1983 Patriot at $14,500, and it was featured in the Carlisle Auction a few years ago. (In all fairness, the Carlisle car had 23k miles, where mine has 55k miles, so I have adjusted my asking price accordingly.)
The car won First Place in the 2012 Spring Show of the Central Pennsylvania Cadillac LaSalle Club, and won Second Place in 2013.
Some other features of the Patriot include-
Rare dealer Northeast option car available in 1983 which included:
- Factory special paint - paint code is blank.
-"Imitation" white convertible top with rails.
- Special White Leather Interior with blue piping.
- Patriot Emblems on rear quarter panels.
- Wreath Crests around door locks.
If you have taken the time to read this far, I urge you to contact me with any questions, or to set up an appointment to come inspect this gorgeous Cadillac in person, you will not be disappointed. I am holding a clear title, and the car has a valid NYS inspection.
Thank you for your interest!!!
