1995 Mercedes Benz SL 500
11,416 Miles from new.
Imperial Red Code 582
Parchment Leather Interior Code 275
This particular vehicle is currently owned by an avid European automobile collector from Connecticut, and he is a well known contributing writer for an International Sports Car Publication.
His BMW motorcycle collection is considered to be one of the best in the world, and was featured recently in the Wall Street Journal this past year.
This car is also featured on his website Turtle Garage, and he has reluctantly decided to release this exceptional example from his private collection.
This well maintained California car was purchased new at Franz Kreig Autobahn Motors in Redwood City California in 1995.
It remained in California with the original owner until his passing in 2012, and ownership was then transferred to his wife which is the second owner.
The current owner discovered the vehicle in 2013 after a 2 year search for the nicest and lowest mileage pre-Chrysler era W129 roadster he could find.
He found it !!! The SL500 was brought home to the East Coast upon inspection.
The vehicle has spent its entire time in Connecticut housed in a climate controlled private museum, and was used quite sparingly for short fair weather trips and automobile related events.
The records indicate that vehicle was serviced early in its life at Autobahn Motors in California and most recently at Contemporary Motorcars in Little Silver NJ this past year.
Cosmetically this vehicle is in exceptional condition both inside and out.
The Imperial Red exterior is in show quality condition with a few very minute touch-ups from stone chips.
Original glass and mirrors are crystal clear all around.
OEM Mercedes Benz wheels are nearly flawless with no curb rash or paint loss.
Newer Continental tires mounted on all four corners.
Both hard and soft-tops are in excellent condition and the soft-top operates flawlessly with no hydraulic issues or leakage.
The interior of the car is exceptionally clean, and the previous owners did not removed the plastic wrap from the seat belts that are typically removed by the dealer upon delivery.
Parchment leather still shows like new and carpeting has a beautiful sheen.
The door jams are even impeccably clean and the interior Burlwood has a mirror-like shine.
Even the leather steering wheel is in remarkably unblemished condition.
This vehicle was truly loved by both owners.
Mechanically the car runs and drives tight like a well maintained Mercedes Benz should.
Engine bay and undercarriage are impeccably clean and free of any corrosion due to its California mileage and extremely limited fair weather usage in Connecticut.
All power options function 100% with ice cold AC and OEM 6 disc CD changer in the trunk.
Stereo head unit was recently serviced by Becker Autosound in Hackensack NJ and has an added auxiliary plug for smart phone or ipod concealed in the dash. (see photo).
The current owner of this vehicle has recently purchased another W129 roadster with under 200 original miles from new.
He absolutely loves this SL500 but space constraints and redundancy in his collection are not desired.
He has reluctantly decided to let this fine automobile go to another collector or for someone who wishes to drive a pristine W129 SL500 for sunny day pleasure.
The car is ready for show or enjoyment!
No disappointments, and inspections are welcome.
