Up for bid today is a 1974 Dodge Monaco two-door sedan powered by a 400 cubic inch mill and back by 727 transmission. I save this car from guy who wanted to put it in a demolition derby and thought it was way too good to smash up and being a two-door it's kind of rare. The car hadn't been on the road in a number of years so I brought the car home drained the fuel tank put in new filters, gas, battery, plugs, wires, cap and rotor and she fired right up! Sounds great no strange noises, no smoking, runs like a top, car sometimes has a stumble or a miss and I believe it is in the carb as I have not rebuilt it yet but will run some cleaner through it in the next few days of driving it. After that I cleaned and repainted the rims and installed brand new white letter tires. I then proceeded to take the car out on a test drive and found out that the car does not have third gear and has a week reverse :( I do not have anymore time or money to put into this car being I have a quite a few other projects in front of it and don't want to see it sit and rot again. All the lights and gauges work, even the fuel gauge, all doors open good and all windows raise and lower even the quarter windows . The body on the car is quite nice, it has rust on the bottoms of the front fenders and at the very bottom of the quarter panels . Floors, trunk floor and subframe of the car are in terrific condition . Even with third gear being out in the transmission, and being the car has tall gears in the rear, I have been driving her around in first and second gear without a problem. Brakes work very good also...will put you through the front window! The car will need exhaust in the future as the pipe dumps mid car for now. Two things that do not work on the car besides 3rd gear are the window wipers and the radio...it turns on but no sound. In my opinion with a rebuilt transmission and a little more TLC the car would make a great big body Mopar cruise! I would love too see this car go too a good home and not smashed up as so many before her have fallen victim to. Good luck and if you have any questions drop me a line.
