Description

For sale 1995 Mercedes S500 Coupe 168850 miles (I drive about 50 miles a day, so the mileage will get higher). The car is in FAIR condition, but it's a reliable daily driver that is still very presentable both on the outside and on the inside.IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PERFECT CAR - THIS CAR IS NOT FOR YOU. (Moreover, if you never owned a W140 or other older S-Class, likely this car is not for you either). It has various small and not so small blemishes, scratches, dents and other imperfections on the exterior and on the interior.I drove it for over 4k miles now since the middle of May (when I bought it as a summer toy) with no mechanical issues whatsoever (although the check engine light is full time on and the oil light would come on and off). The transmission shifts fine (seen better shifting, but this one shifts as you'd expect from a 20+ year old car).Never seen any leaks and it doesn't seem to burn any oil. Most all electronic and power options work except for the lumbar support on both front seats (likely there's a leak somewhere in the system), the remote door locking, the fog lights.AC/heat work, new front brake pads.As many older cars there are some inconveniences - the (driver side) rear seat headrest can be lowered only with the rear seat switch/button (and not from the center console button) and only when it wants to; after the seat belts are presented by the extenders they become a little loose and you have to "reset" them by unbuckling and buckling them back (very common issue with the seatbelt presenters on these models), etc.Probably the biggest issue with this car are the rear shocks! I drive her as is with no problems at any speed, but the shocks are definitely worn out and they make some squeaky (not high pitched) noise.Probably the biggest thing that is going FOR this car is the AMG body kit package (believed to be originally installed when new, judging by the paperwork that came with the car and the old style AMG badge on the trunk). This AMG body kit package is VERY RARE (I can hardly recall seeing any in the 13 years I've been following the W140's on Ebay). Also attached is an image from a MBenz forum (from late 2009) that suggests how much it would cost if you'd try to get even just the front bumper from the dealer. This AMG kit is definitely not in perfect condition, but as the rest of the vehicle - very presentable.I also have the "big star" emblem (in very good condition) for the front grille that will come with the vehicle and it's in the original chrome color (I wanted to paint it black, but decided to leave this decision up to the next owner).I tried to describe the vehicle as good as I can, underscore the weaknesses, and post images of some of the biggest cosmetic flaws (see the rust by the keyhole on the trunk, rust spot on the driver side fender by the headlight, chips and hairlines on the center console wood trim, etc), but there are really many small scratches and imperfections, so if you're looking for a above average condition you should look elsewhere. To recap:Cons:- 21 year old vehicle (parts are old and there are small quirky stuff that can be annoying sometimes)- bad rear shocks- (many) various imperfections both on the exterior and the interior
Pros:- Reliable daily driver - I would drive this vehicle anywhere as is- still looks very presentable outside(still very shiny) and inside- VERY RARE AMG body kit package (note: just body kit, somebody removed the AMG wheels before it came in my possession)- 1995 is the year when W140 Coupe has the most desirable and rare options
