Up for your consideration is a 1967 Ford Galaxie 500XL Convertible. I am the second owner of this 45,000 original mile vehicle purchasing it about 20 years ago. The original owner bought the car when he was a salesman at Ward Ford in Newark, NJ. Included with the sale is the owners manual, the original FoMoCo "Protectoplate" with the origianl owners name on it and a sales receipt from the agency. The title is good and is in my name.
The car was originally a Z code C6 sutomatic car, but I spent considerable time and funds converting it to a 4 speed and patterning the engine after the 1961 HiPo 390. The manifold and carbs are from an early 406 Ford and are the correct Holley 2436 and 2437 code numbers. These units were returned to the Holley Performance Center in Kentucky in 2011 for a complete overhaul and refurbishing to the tune of about $750. The fuel lines and filter are OEM Ford parts that are correct for this setup. The fuel log has a pressure gauge and the road draft tube, while aftermarket, is correct for this setup. The valve coves are from a 1963 Thunderbird and have that logo on them. The camshaft is a Comp Cams unit with .286 lift and 219 duration that goes along with the new lifters and dual valve springs. The cam bearings were also replaced. The fuel pump is a new unit as is the high volume oil pump. The radiator is new as are the power steering lines. The oil pan is chromed. The starter was replaced with a PowerMaster Hi Torque unit eliminating the dreaded heat drain associated with a lot of older FE starters. The tires while over ten years old, have less than 200 miles on them. The same can be said for the exhaust system which was replaced from manifold to tail pipe.
Converting to a 4 speed transmission was an exercise that took approximately 18 months. While toploader transmissions are not that hard to come by, the ancillary items needed for conversion, like clutch/brake pedals, can be challenging and expensive to find. The transmission was rebuilt and is correct for the year having come from a 1967 Galaxie Fastback. The shifter, while correct for the year os for a bench seat and the console is a modification of the C6 unit. The flywheel was resurfaced and the cluth assembly and throw out bearing are new.
The front drum brakes were replaced with a Master Power Brake unit that included the rotors, calipers, spindles, bearings, lines, booster and mnaster cylinder. There is a proportioning valve under the drivers compartment for the rear drum brakes. The booster unit is operated by an independent electric vacuum pump and does not run off manifold vacuum. The upper and lower ball joints were replaced along with the shocks. The motor mounts and the transmission mount are also new as are the universal joints. The gas tank and sending unit are new.
The trunk pan, rear quarters and floor pans were either replaced or repaired. The trunk liner is new and contains the correct jack, tire iron and spare tire retainer. The interior of the car was replaced about two years ago with a set from Dearborn Classics. There is a small tear, about 1/2", in the lower left side of the drivers seat back. The video has a shot of it. The console has an oil pressure gauge, ammeter, and temperature gauge. The convertible well liner was replaced. There is a period correct Sun tachometer on the steering column. The lights, horn, radio, windshield wiper/washer and interior lights operate as they should. The convertibel top operates freely and goes up and down. The latch on the passengers side is bent and sometimes can be difficult to fasten. The top will need to be replaced. The original tonneau cover and storage bag is in the trunk. The paint and chrome are in "fair to good" condition. The Galaxie "star" on the trunk is pitted and needs to be rechromed. The trim, including the "XL" badge on the front grill is complete.
Purchases like this are an investment of someone's money. Therefore, consider this. The manifold, carbs, fuel log and linkage, fuel lines and filter and air cleaner are probably in the $2500 to $3000 range on Ebay. The rebuilt trans, with the shifter, bell housing, clutch assembly and flywheel, Z bar and mounts along with the clutch adjusting rids and pedal set is probably in the $2000 to $2500 range. The trim pieces are intact, and while the trunk star needs attention, in rechromed condition, it's a $1000 to $1250 item easily. The XL badge on the grill is $250 when you can find them. The interior, wile used, is an aeasy $500 on Ebay. If someone was to turn this into a resto mod, they could recoup a lot of their investment.

I have a lot of spare parts that I will enumerate to interested buyers that will go with the purchase of the car. Please ask any and all questions before bidding as there are no returns. A $500 deposit through PayPal is due within 3 days and the balance is due within a week via cashiers check. Shipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer although I will do whatever I can to facilitate. Thanks for taking the time to look.
