Description |
---|
This is one of nine Camaro Z28s prepped for duty at both the Indy 500 and the Brickyard 400. These cars were delivered to the Indy Motor Speedway in triple white – white top, paint, and seats, where they received race specific decals ahead of the event. With just over 45k miles, this car runs and drives as it should. Highlights include: power top, power driver seat, power windows, power mirrors, leather seating surfaces. This car is equipped with its original 5.7L LS1 V8 engine (new for the Camaro line up in ’98) and linked to a four-speed automatic transmission. Z28s in 1998 were rated at 305 hp and 335 lb-ft of torque.
Exterior:
This Camaro retains its original Brickyard 400 door decals and Indy Motor Speedway trunk decal. Rear Indy Motor Speedway quarter panel decals appear smaller than documented and the side stripes and windshield decal are missing (burn-in from the windshield decal is evident in the windshield). Although never in an accident, the rear quarter panel appears to have been repainted (likely the reason for the missing side stripes).
There are a couple of small dings easily removed at a painless dent removal shop. However, on the driver rear quarter panel there is a dent that was touched up by a previous owner (see picture). The white top is original to the car but is in good shape. Wheels are original to the car and tires have lots of rubber left. No rust or missing parts.
Interior:
Dirt and road grime become very evident on the white seats in these Camaros and this car is no exception. The left bolster on the driver’s seat has worn through and the other seats show their wear. The console has usual scuffs. The sun visors show their age but the rest of the interior is in great shape with no dash cracks or door panel rips. The radio works as it should and heater and air conditioning all work with no issues. Factory floor mats come with car.
Three “nit” issues – the passenger seat is missing the plastic recline lever knob (the release is there but the plastic knob is missing), the driver seat is missing the knob on the power seat switch. The switch works fine, just no knob on it. Lastly, the hinge on the ash tray lid is broken.
Mechanical:
This Camaro starts, runs, and drives as it should with no mechanical issues. No puddles on the driveway, no smells, no strange noises. Engine idles smoothly and accelerates without hesitation. The transmission shifts smoothly and operates as it should. The power top operates and the hard boot cover is included in the sale.
