When AM General LLC decided to offer a civilian version of its military M998 Humvee to the public in 1992, it became an instant hit among four-wheel-drive, off road enthusiasts. With a proud reputation of servicing our armed forces in Operation Desert Storm, the first Hummers offered where all Limited Edition numbered units totaling only 316. As each year passed, AM General continued to improve and upgrade the H1 with refined options and enhanced road manners. Production never exceeded 1,432 units in a peak sales year, but generally averaged only 800 H1’s sold each year for their 15-year run. With new diesel emission and mpg requirements from our Federal government pressuring the now combined General Motors and AM General team, the decision was made to terminate the H1 for civilian purchase. No H1 models were offered in 2005 as an all new final edition was being created for 2006. This 2006 model became known as the Alpha, and took approximately 3.5 years to completely reengineer and modify to incorporate a modern Duramax 6.6L Turbo-diesel mated to the 5-speed Allison 1000 automatic transmission. It would provide their lucky owners the most horsepower & torque, better fuel economy, larger fuel capacity, quieter ride, better steering, enhanced cooling, and stronger chassis than ever before! It would be the ultimate Hummer H1, earning the Alpha moniker proudly as the true leader! Only 720 of these amazing vehicles would ever roam the streets, and we could not more excited to offer this particular example!

This highly desired Open Top Convertible example was built March 2005 and finished in factory P33- Metallic Pewter over Ebony & Brown Leather interior! It was ordered with all options including the Off-Road Adventure Package! The standard equipment list was long and included full power accessories, heated seats, cruise control, Monsoon audio system, CTIS tire inflation system, full climate control system, and more. The Adventure Package added Electronic differential lockers (front & rear), Warn Industrial Series 12 wench, two-piece 17” aluminum wheels with more aggressive off-road MT/R tires, and privacy glass! Added features on this Alpha include Rubber Duck Tree Hugger brush guard, carpeted interior floors & fitted Hummer brand rubber floor mats. The original MSRP on this unit came to $135,225. Today, they are among the most sought after collectible, factory built off-road vehicles you can buy!

Our example offered here has just recently been through our sister company, HummerService.com, for a complete inspection and comprehensive service to ensure it is in need of no immediate requirements. This included the 12K service to completely renew all fluids inside the engine, transmission, and transfer case. Fresh air, oil, fuel, and transmission filters installed, tires rebalanced, new transfer case seal, and surge tank replaced. To clarify the mileage listed, the original odometer was replaced in October 2012 for a new one under Hummer warranty. Today, the new odometer reads only 522 miles.
