Found this 35 year old beauty literally sitting outside in the elements unloved and beginning to decay. The car has 40K original miles and was the pride and joy of it's original owner. Sadly, the owner died and it got sold to a person who just let it sit.
All original car, no apparent modifications of any kind. All original engine which runs very well. I replaced the fuel pump and filter, added a pre-fuel pump filter, a new cold start valve and flushed the left wing tank. Also replaced the battery and cleaned out the fuel system. The car starts every time and runs strong. Once in a rare while the motor runs a little rough possibly indicating a dirty injector.
The paint is very good over most of the car. There appears to the beginning of paint cracking on the top of the rear wings. There are several areas of rust beginning to develop on the lower front quarter panels and bottom of the driver's door, see pictures, these have been treated, as well as any other apparent rust areas, with a rust inhibitor. There is also the start of rust around the front and rear windshields, all relatively minor. Again, I used rust inhibitor on all of the areas that I saw starting to rust. The only known rust-through is in the bottom of the trunk under the spare tire towards the back of the car. The area needing repair is approximately 3" by 3' and is hidden by the spare tire and is not structural.
The interior needs help. The leather is dry rotted and cracked in many spots on the front and back seats and need to be replaced or re-covered.
This is an honest barn find. I just did the necessary things to slow the decay and get the motor running. The car has not been driven, other than in and out of my garage, but there are absolutely no signs of any problems with shifting or suspension. The previous owner reported no issues other than not being able to start the car, which was caused by a clogged cold start valve.
Please take a look at the pictures and contact me if you need more information or have any questions. If you're looking for an easy restoration project this car is it!
The car is located in East Brunswick New Jersey. My phone is 813-317-8884 call or text between 8a - 10p EST.
