1967 International Harvester Scout 800 “V” Model, Convertible, V8 w/ Manual Trans, Arizona Rust Free, Low Mileage Vintage SUV
Up for auction is this stunning 1967 International Scout 800 “V” Model. The gorgeous baby Scout was rescued from an Arizona warehouse where it had sat for over a decade. Its perfect rust free and damage free body made for a great candidate for a nice cosmetic restoration. The mileage only reads 78,534 and it very well could be the original mileage based on the evidence of the rest of the vehicle. A lot of time and money has been invested in this Scout as evident in the pics.
If you've done your research than you know that these 800's are truly the Scout to have especially when they have the sought after V8! This is the Scout that the early Bronco's wished we're never born! The 800's we're the true SUV that started it all and others tried to copy. The majority of these baby Scouts were the 4 cylinder models and although they we're great off-road vehicles, they were severely underpowered and tough to drive on today's modern roads and highways. The coveted “V” model is the one to have! Not only is it the most desirable year and best looking model, but has the big V8 power to back up the reputation!
The fresh paint on this 800 is jaw dropping and is the original Aspen Green color that the Scout was born with. The original top is painted back to its “born with” white finish with matching white bumpers. All of the glass is brand new and was custom cut and tinted with all new weather stripping/gaskets. The top comes off easily and makes into a sweet convertible and looks way better than a classic Bronco because there are no silly door frames that get in the way of the smooth lines of this true convertible!
The super stout 266 V8 motor was completely freshened up and painted with all new gaskets, new water pump, new alternator, re-cored radiator, rebuilt carb, new freeze plugs and all misc. tune up parts and fluids throughout. It runs great and did not require a rebuild based on the inspection, high oil pressure and low mileage. The 3 speed manual Trans has a new 11’ clutch kit with new pressure plate, throughout bearing and pilot bearing mated to the re-surfaced flywheel. Tranny works well but remember 1st gear on these is non-synchronized so you must come to a complete stop or get used to 2nd gear first then grab first. Just part of the charm of owning a vintage SUV of 49yrs. The twin stick Dana will get you up and down the mountain for sure when engaged in 4 wheel drive. The dual fuel tanks have been cleaned, checked and pressure tested as well as all new sending units, filler tubes, fuel switch and electric fuel pump.
Brand New 31x10.5x15 Mud Terrain tires mounted to polished aluminum Eagle rims give the Scout an awesome look. New Rancho Shocks and steering stabilizer dampener.
Brand new custom fabricated dual exhaust system.
The seats are hand crafted original pleated buckets…not the cheap seat covers. It was important to match the original color and type of fabric to resemble the originals…they look great with matching visors.
A cluster of 3 new gauges (Volts, Oil Pressure & Temp) was installed to monitor the vitals of the motor which basically replace the original gauges that pretty much told you nothing.
The Scout is not perfect but is very nice and represents the marque very well. There are a few items not completed due to time and too many other projects going on simultaneously but those small items can be finished minimally by the new owner thus giving a sense of pride and completion of their own rig! These items are: gas gauge does not work and the only thing left that was not replaced was the gauge itself. The turn blinkers and hazards don’t work…never really had the time to get into the steering column and trouble shoot. There are no wipers…the antiquated/old vacuum version has since been removed with the intent of installing the more modern 12v elect kit but never did.
Hagerty Insurance recently said this about International Scouts: “International Scout SUVs are up by 85 percent" and that "vintage SUVs are going to be the next big trend in car collecting. “Hagerty Observes Significant Shift in Allure of Vintage Sport Utility Vehicles”
Hagerty also values this particular model at over 25k and that’s not surprising considering that the 4 cylinder versions of this model is currently pulling consistent low 20’s in price in the market today.
Don’t let this opportunity pass by of owning a great investment and not to mention a great looking Scout! Clean AZ title signed & notarized.
Thanks for the Interest and happy bidding!
