Description

Up for Auction is my 1949 Willy's Jeepster Phantom.

This is a one owner Orig, one owner rare Classic (owned aprox 5 year, never registered it) It is insured via Hagerty for $15,000 agree value. These were only produced for 3 years..Three years, and there was only 2,607 built in '49,Of these, 2,307 were equipped with the four-cylinder engine and only 653, a new VJ3-6-with a 148.5-cid L-head six was added during the year. (aka) 6-148 “Lightning” L Head Motor. As mentioned one owner, bought from the daughter of the original owne, been in their garage/workshop aprox three before I purchased and had enclosed shipped from New Hampshire (in the middle of no where) Now It was a runner, pampered car most its life only and was house at the owners friend / mechanic's shop a bit before he passed to have the clutch repaired (throw out bearing fork ?) . The daughter collected the Willy's and drove it home, but the mechanic suggested that they redo the wiring, as it was old and a lot of it brittle, so her husband having some skills and decided to purchase a new wiring harness and do the job himself, aprox 2 years later, wiring started, but never finished and the Willy's sat in the garage workshop till I found and add for it under antiques for sale. I have it listed with no reserve. Everything is orig on this car and in 49, you had to buy the options, The larger whitewalls, the chrome bumper over rides, the radio, spare tire cover, weather gear (windows) This Jeepster is solid, no accidents, looks to be the orig paint, that just could use a lil rubbing out, all the trim (all of it) is in place, not rusted or bent also just a lil wax and it shines. The is only one rust hole on the car, on the rear passenger side rear floor, about on half inch, which might had been for owner, setting the 6 volt batter on it, when he started on the re-wire., that's it. Interior is orig and need some cleaning up, one small round hole in the drivers seat (1/2" round) Told leather wax (you can do it yourself) would make them look new. OK, so why did I buy it..I remember a photo my mom had shown me, of myself about 4 Y.O with my Dad on the front fender of his green one, forever in my mind, So I have kept an eye out fo the right one over the years..seen man, restored, ratrod, hotrod etc..high end about 26,000 restored )not orig, un-restored) and junk rust buckets offer as a great start for a rat rod at a price half what my opening, non bid price of $7000.00. ( a lot less then I have into finding her, buying her, shipping, storage)Clean it up and rewire, turn it over (rebuilt back in the 80's, as best could be remembered) and enjoy it as is..as I had planned. or make some money (a lot) on the cheap. Orig overdrive worked, top is orig, about a inch hole, doors operate as they should and the weather gear is complete and has lots of life in them. Now this has the special order chrome grill over, BUT and this is cool, only a few dealer put a 6 with a circle (pictured) on this model on the gril, only 653 offered, not many had this badge as the Willy;s pro do not remember it, it was just like the 4's that had a circle around it, I was told by a stopped by old fella who used to work at a Ohio dealer who put these on their 6 cyl's that didn't leave with the optional chrome grill insert. Glass all good, no dents in body, a couple of minor scratches here and there. Why am I selling..After looking aprox 10 year, this popped up..just orig, complete and a simple job, that said simple jobs don't take long, and always get pushed to the rear for that raining day..mine was retirement (a little early still) and with 3 other custom hotrod, still truck driving 5 day and too many miles, the weekend I'm beat, and just too tired to really enjoy my other rides. Been kept covered inside my locked garage since arriving, So here's your chance, New Hampshire is a no title state, so with bill of sale only, a CHP buddy of mine ran the serial number and its good to go. Sold where is, as is condition..F.O.B Roseville California..bring your trailer or tow dolly or can help your trucker load, rolls easy.

No reserve ..Bid to own, bid to win. Now being that I tried of winning bidder (dreamer) winning, then stating my wife or too much to transport, or this and that..find out first before you bid. I reserve to end the auction at any time as it's listed on a couple a others collectors site at a high pric, might end early of the right offer ..not really looking for trades. cheers kool1,

check my feedback since 1998 NO neg feedback N O N E and I plan to keep it that way.
