Description

*This item is being relisted due to lack of deposit/payment. Also, I was asked by a potential buyer during the previous auction if it was actually a 170 as opposed to a 144 and all indications or lack thereof suggest it's not the original 144 but rather a 170. There is no "N" or "T" stamp and the valve cover has its original red color with no blue underneath. The code on the boss next to the draft tube reads "40F17U". But I can't get any clarification with this code. And the location where there should be a block code only has a number 5. The car does highway speeds (60 mph) with ease and maintains speed through these Iowa hills. I strongly believe it is a 170ci engine. If you have any questions just ask.
1960 Ford Falcon Base Coupe. 2.8 liter 170 cubic inch straight six engine. Engine runs strong. "3 on the tree" manual transmission. Shifts perfectly and no slipping of the clutch. Rear wheel drive open differential with 3.10 gears. Lowered the rear 3 inches with lowering blocks and cut 1 coil out of the front to level the car. New sending unit/pickup tube, fuel line, fuel filter and fuel pump. All new brake hoses, brake lines to the rear, master cylinder and brake shoes. The car has 4 new tires with less than 500 miles and no leaks. Also installed a new thermostat, new coolant and exhaust manifold gasket. To give the car some attitude I painted the hood a satin black and installed a Cherry Bomb exhaust. It sounds like a V8 and is loud at higher RPMs. Low and Loud! The underside of the car has been undercoated/painted from the rear bumper up to firewall. Trunk area has been painted and isn't rotted out at the rear quarters like most of these cars. It has an aftermarket AM/FM cassette radio. It does work but it needs 6x9 speakers for the rear. There is wiring to hook up an amplifier. Interior is in great shape. Seats are in perfect condition. Heat and fan motor work great too. It was a Missouri car. I have some registration renewals going back to 1992 spanning two owners and a receipt when it was purchased from a Missouri used car dealer. The car runs and drives great for a 56 year old car. Bid to win and drive it home.
