With the success of the 2CV, Citroen decided to make an upgraded model. These were rolled out as a mid size commuter. Very similar engine with the beautiful finned aluminum sump, but they added 2 more cylinders. Then to make it interesting they went from push rods to overhead cams. Ooh la la.... Add the tear drop aerodynamic body & you have an impressive upgrade. Coming from a 2CV this must have seemed like George Jetsons space shuttle to the Frenchmen of the time..
I bought it from a guy in Maine. He drove it around europe & sold it when he came back to the states. It wasn't even in Maine for one winter, so no salt. There is some rust in some door bottoms from rain water, but the sills, chassis, & door frames are good.
It all works, I have put in new spheres & accumulator, flushed the hydraulics, new brakes, new clutch, a wheel bearing & whatever else it took to make it a solid driver. Oh yeah, four new tires too.
I take it out a few times a week, it has a carburetor and a points distributor; reliable & no computers involved.
Cool old car & I'm only selling as I am out of parking spots . Comfy seats, nice little driver.
This is a 1979 so check your state regulations. I know in California you cannot register a car made after 1975 so don't buy it if you live there.
Comes on a French title with DOT, EPA, and importation documents as Maine doesn't issue titles for vintage cars.
Thanks for looking.
Oh, mileage is inKilometers.
