Up for sale we have a 1971 Ford Mustang J Code 429 Cobra Jet. This is a real 429 Mach1 that features the matching numbers block. Also, it's done in the factory Grabber Yellow Paint Scheme. In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief description of the exterior, interior, and driveline of the Ford, but first we would like to tell you a little about us.
Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee. We are family owned, operated, and own our entire inventory, no consignments, and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. You can count on us to have 70 to 80 cars at all times. We don't have a big show room that our customers would otherwise pay for. So, that's how we can sell for less than other dealers. We will start off with the exterior of the Mustang. Being a Cobra Jet Mach 1 it has the correct Air Grabber hood and euro front bumper. It also has the rear spoiler and the dual sport mirrors painted body color. Down the sides the panel fit is good and the panels are straight with good lines. The body is covered in the Grabber Yellow Body Color that is accented by the Black Spoiler, Hood Insert, and Mach 1 side stripes. This car has a killer look all around. The rear bumper appears to have been replaced along with some other trim. The weather stripping looks fresh as does the window seals. All the glass looks good. This Stang is sitting on a set of Magnum 500 wheels with White Letter tires.
Next, we will take a look at the interior of the Cobra Jet. On the inside it's done in Black which is also the factory color scheme. It has the high back bucket seats with the console and shifter. The seat covers and door panels are in great condition. The carpet and headliner are also in great condition. This Mustang comes with Tilt Wheel, AM/FM radio, and don't forget factory A/C. You'll also see it has the gauge pack dash with the 8000 RPM tach. When you look in the trunk everything is well organized with a disc changer, trunk mat, and spare.
Finally, we will take a look at the driveline of the Ford. Per the Marti Report only 815 of these Mustangs were made with the Engine and Trans Codes this Mustang was born with. Under the hood you'll see it's powered by the 429 375 HP V8 with the Matching Numbers Block. The engine is mated to the C6 Automatic Trans and 9" Rear End. When you look at the engine bay everything looks as it would have in '71 with the stock breather and valve covers. This Mach 1 has Power Disc brakes, Power Steering and Factory A/C. The Exhaust is stock manifolds with duals. When you look at the floor pans they all look great and they still have the factory under coating. They have been cleaned when the car was restored.
