Ok, here’s the story on this Bronco. I bought it a couple of months ago while in El Paso visiting some friends with the intention of doing a complete restoration. As usual, plans change so it’s is up for sale. The Bronco is still located in El Paso, but I can have a friend of mine take any additional pictures of anything you want to see.
I bought the Bronco from a 76 year old gentleman that has owned it since 1970. He claimed that the Bronco was built by Parnelli Jones and Bill Stroppe to be used in a movie filmed in El Paso called “The Get Away”. I can’t confirm that it was built by them, but I thought it was a cool story none the less. Although, it does show some orange paint on the radiator support and it has a Bill Stroppe Roll Bar.
Here is what I know about the Bronco.
1968 U14 “Half Cab Bronco” that is as rust free as any that I have ever saw. According to the Original owner it has had one re-paint and that was in 1970.
VIN is U14FLDO7695
302 with a Holley 4 Barrel
C4 Automatic
Bill Stroppe Roll Bar
Power Steering
New Dash Pad
New Carpet
New Door Panels
New Door Weather Stripping
New Battery
All Gauges’ work including the Fuel Gauge
Starts and runs good. Does smoke a little, but I truly believe that is from the Bronco sitting for so long and would go away once driven for a while. Oil pressure was very solid.
If rust exist, I can’t find any. Rockers, inner fenders, door jams, floor board and the cowl below the windshield is solid. That is all of the normal rust spots in the early broncos. This would be an amazing bronco to do a complete restoration on it or just drive it like it is and enjoy it. Broncos this solid doesn’t come around very often. I wish I were able to keep it, but I have decided to retire from the Army and now isn’t a good time to start a new project.
The Mileage shows just over 49,700 and I believe that to be the original mileage. He re-titled the bronco in 1994 to New Mexico and the mileage at that time was just over 49,000. That’s only 700 miles in 22 years.
