For most enthusiasts, the privilege of owning a classic car isn't about numbers or return on investment. It's about heading out on the weekend and having a little bit of fun. It's about making a statement and turning heads. It's about the excitement of putting the wind in their face and the roar of an American V8 at their back. That's why rides like this awesome Camaro have such a loyal following. Sure, you'll probably see another one at the show. And it might not turn into a six-figure asset over the next decade. But, it's cool, it's stylish, it's unique and, most importantly, it provides a whole lot of enjoyment! Want to make it yours? Your friends at RK Motors Charlotte are happy to help!

BODYWORK/TRIM

The beneficiary of a calculated, ground-up restoration, this first-year Camaro is the product of a lot of time spent sweating details. From its straight panels to its Metallic Burgundy 2-stage, the car's rock-solid metal displays great craftsmanship that's highlighted by unique pinstripe Rally Stripes. Not surprisingly, every seam on this Main Street king has been aligned to better-than-factory fit. When you step close to the car's mirror-like pigment, you'll find flat surfaces that have traveled mere weekend miles since they were stripped to bare metal. And ultimately, it all adds up to one very impressive classic that looks right at home reflecting summertime car shows!

With balanced proportions and crisp detailing, the first generation Camaro is an inherently good-looking design. At the front of this drop-top, a billet-trimmed grille hangs traditional headlights and '67-exclusive parking lamps above a polished bumper. At the top of that grille, a custom Camaro header emblem leads the eye to a flat hood, polished wipers, stainless-trimmed glass and power-operated canvas. At the sides of that hood, the car's smooth profile centers GM door handles and a bowtie-branded mirror above tweaked fender emblems. And at the back of that profile, custom taillights illuminate a D80 deck spoiler, a second polished bumper, a billet fuel filler and a custom valance that's molded around custom exhaust tips.

ENGINE

In its heyday, Chevrolet's 327 cubic inch small block played the role of all things to all people. Introduced in 1962, it was marketed as an affordable performance offering in GM's Chevrolet and Holden lines, was perfectly suited for utilitarian duty in Checker cabs, and eventually powered the niche Avanti II. Stare in to this panther's smooth engine bay and you'll find a polished and painted 327 that's rebuilt, reliable and ready to roll! Power originates when wind whips from a polished, low-profile air cleaner in to a coated Edelbrock carburetor, which is fed by polished fluid lines and a coated, mechanical pump. That air/fuel mixture travels to a polished Edelbrock Performer Air-Gap intake, which rides between cast iron heads, billet valve covers and matching billet breathers. Sparks get sequenced from an upgraded HEI distributor to thick Accel Ultra Hi-Temperature Ferro-Spiral cables. Spent gases roar through aluminized pipes via coated, long-tube headers. Charge comes courtesy of a chrome alternator, which spins beside a coated AC compressor and an aluminum water pump. A beefy aluminum radiator makes good use of dual electric puller fans and a polished bowtie cap. And details like braided hoses, a polished expansion tank, a quality Lokar throttle linkage and Eddie Motorsports hood supports create attractive, purposeful aesthetics.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Park this Camaro on a lift and you'll find solid, undercoated floorpans that span a roster of upgraded componentry. Behind the 327, a proven 700R4 4-speed, perched on a tubular crossmember, twists power to a tough 12-bolt axle. That axle rides a fully restored suspension, which backs requisite power steering with a sturdy rear sway bar. At the corners of those Charcoal Gray bones, a combination of GM and SSBC calipers cinch a quartet of slotted rotors. Charred dinosaurs float from the aforementioned headers in to aluminized exhaust pipes, which flow in to coated Flowmaster mufflers and coated, Mandrel-bent tailpipes. Torque meets the pavement through polished Boyd Coddington blades, which spin 245/40ZR18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs in front of 275/40ZR18 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRs. And, as with the car's engine, excellent detailing abounds as a polished oil pan and polished flywheel shield reflect tubular subframe connectors and a fresh stainless fuel tank.

INTERIOR

Swing the doors and you'll find a custom leather interior that wraps plush, "Auto Spa" branded seats in a nice blend of classic flash and modern flair. In front of those seats, a custom, color-keyed dash hangs Classic Instruments All American telemetry beside Vintage Air climate control and Pioneer MIXTRAX audio. Below that dash, a custom, full-length console balances a small B&M shifter between billet power window switches and a large armrest. Beneath that console, premium carpet floats color-keyed floor mats beneath billet foot pedals. At the edge of that carpet, sculpted side panels look great under body-matched door frames. In front of the driver, a polished, half-wrapped and bowtie-branded steering wheel laps a modern, tilting column. And behind the passengers, a custom trunk wraps dual amplifiers in more leather panels and matching carpet.

Well-built, fully detailed and attention grabbing in every way, this Camaro backs a lot of show with a whole lot of go. In summary, it's what every car guy wants: speed, style and endless good times!
