This is by far the best and most practical car I've ever owned and it is absolutely the last of the great American cars.
I bought this car 8 years ago and it's been simply amazing. Not only does it seat 8 people, but it actually has incredible power, is smooth to drive, and gets approximately 22mpg on average (about 18 in the city and about 26 on the highway). It is also the only vehicle I've ever had (I've had a number of mini-vans) where I can put the back seat down (which folds into the floor) and have enough length and width for a 4' x 8' sheet of plywood or drywall. It really is astounding how much space this vehicle has.
I bought the car from a seller in Rochester, NY who was having financial difficulties. Because it was from NY, it had some rust, but other than that, it was in pretty good shape. It has spent the last 8 years in California. It did have some rust spots and some of the rust went through the body. I have since fiberglassed it, sanded it, and refinished it with the original paint. As you can see from the pictures, it still looks great.
I looked for a long time for a 96 Roadmaster Estate wagon. I wanted the to find the Limited Edition one with the Grand Touring suspension (which eliminates the old Buick wallow and shows some European influence when you take, say, the on-ramp at speed), heavy duty cooling system for longevity, and the premium sound system. This one has all that, the LT1 Corvette engine and just about every option available. It's a creamy smooth ride and everything works. Air conditioning works great and blows icy cold. It has a new battery, newer tires, and has been modified so that it has a DVD player with 7" screen, cigarette lighter and USB ports in the front and rear of the vehicle, and also has two 110v plugs in the dash so that you can charge a laptop or run other devices from it.
Here's the good stuff in a nutshell:
LT1 Corvette engine in amazing condition, well maintained and running smoothly with NO issuesTransmission is is great shape with NO issuesMechanically perfect. Not a single issueBody and interior are both in good conditionFully loaded with all options - (power everything, sunroof, leather, etc.)Has a tow hitch and can haul up to 3,000 lbsHas a clean title and clean CarFaxMuch more!
And here's the bad stuff in a nutshell:
Has some electrical issue where the interior lights will not shut off. There must be a short somewhere, but I haven't had it looked atIt is not currently registered. Needs a smog check.Needs an alignmentPart of the rear passenger floor is quite rusted and needs to be fiberglassed or reinforced with metalThe driver's side door panel is cracked and falling off. It is still affixed, but it held together in the middle with black duct tape (see last few pictures)Some of the lining at the top near the rear of the vehicle is torn (see last few pictures)
If you have been following these 94-96 Roadmasters you know that they sell used for between $2,500 - $15,000 depending on the condition. Because this vehicle is so rare and so well built, prices have been rising, and continue to do so.
This is a great vehicle and won't last long. Bid now before someone else grabs this. Happy bidding!!!
