About the 1935 Auburn 851 Speedster
In designing the sporty cars section one realizes that throughout the entire 1930s, there was essentially only one company that truly attempted to produce a series of two-passenger, extra sporty cars.
The Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg firm emphasized performance, good looks, and tried to reach a market which was either untapped or uninspired. Because the Auburn speedster was basically the most significant choice for an American sports car in the 1930s we have in the collection the three versions of the speedster, starting in the late 1928 and extending to 1936 with the demise of the company. Auburn Speedsters in their various form, notably the V-12, actually set stock car records.
An interesting phenomenon evolved about all these callipygian cars which, obviously, were very desirable at the time. They appeared in movies with the lovely heiress driving to her Beverly Hills mansion, usually in a white speedster.
About The Southeastern Replicar companyA
Antique Autos of America, was owned and operated by David Samuels in Largo, Florida. With over fifty employees, Antique Autos of America was one of the premier auto restoration facilities in the United States.
Cars restored by Antique Autos included the famed the Frank Lloyd Wright L29 Cord in 1981.
The company was so well respected that cars would just show up on trailers to be restored, not even knowing whom the cars belonged to.
Southeastern Replicars was a side company of Antique Autos of America.
Southeastern Replicars was the replica division of David Samuels company.
1935 Auburn Boattail Speedster Replicas, in kit form and turnkey form, were produced. Later a Cord 810 Phaeton, or what Southeastern called the 815SE Phaeton, was added. For the day, Southeastern was heralded as one of the best replica manufacturers ever

Built around 1992 using Chevrolet running gear on a custom chassis.
It has been built to an extremly high stardard and is almostindistinguishable from an original Auburn Speedster.
Not to be confused with other replica Auburns this is truly stunning and a joy to drive and features many original spec parts.
The engine is a 4.1 straight six and puts put around 150 bhp through a 3 speed manual gearbox.
The chassis features disc brakes on the front with drums on the rear.
The suspension is by telescopic shock absorbers and coil springs.
As anupholsterer the builder spent a lot of time recreating the look of the original cars.
Finished in Red leather it contrasts the Cream exterior beautifully.
The roof mechanisism is a work of art and folds out of sight under a panel behind the bench seat.
With genuine cars selling for $1 Million dollars and new relicas costing well over $120,000 dollars this represents great value for money.
