1951 Chevrolet Chevy truck - NO RESERVE
If you have been looking for an exceptionally nice old Chevy truck - this might be the one for you. First of all, like 99% of my trucks, this one came from a farm here in Kansas. The odometer reads 42K miles, and the previous owner believed this to be correct, but I can't verify that. I will say, however, that the general condition of the truck supports the 42K miles.
I was told this truck originally belonged to the fire dept., but the truckwas originally green and then painted the red you see. Notsure if fire dept. painted it, but it was painted many years ago, and still looks good for its age. The interior was painted as well, I'm guessing at the same time. The paint is not hiding anything on this one. There isNO rust and no body filler anywhere on this truck that I can find. I'm going tosay it's 99.9% rust free just in case I missed something, but I'm 99.9% sure I didn't! The body is extremely straight on this truck, with one exception, There is a dent on the roof that looks like it would pop right out. There are a few other dings, but very minor. The interior is in excellent condition as well, and still has the original cardboard headliner. As for the drivetrain- it runs like a top. This truck would have come with the old oil slinger 216, but has been updated to full oil pressure 235 or 261, the thirtypound oil pressure gauge was left in place, so it pegs out assoon as you start the engine. It has also been converted to 12 volt, and starts easily now. It does sound like there is a bearing going out in the alternator. It charges, buthas a growl to it. The truck is also being run off anauxiliary fuel tank. The previous owner told me that hewould have to clean out fuel filter about every other time he used the truck, so he just ran a line to a gas can, so fuel tank isn't plugged off, and should be pretty easy to clean. The dumpbed on this truck works perfect, no leaks, groans, just smooth up and down.Truck has power brakes that work well, but should be properly bled and checked over. Runs well, looks good, and even sounds good. Tires are decent, but are weather checked. Glass is good except driver side windshield has a couple of cracks. Windows roll up and down good, and doors open and shut like new ones. All in all its just a great old truck. Just plan on spending a few hours on little things like I mentioned, as it's been a year or two since it was used on a regular basis. This truck has a lot of potential. You could take it out for cruise night, and use it on your farm as well. Would also be great for a landscaper, or like me,just for nostalgia because you learned to drive in oneof these. The truck will need a battery, but I have one to use for loading, or I'll put in a new one at my cost (approx. 75.00). I'm easy to work with on storage as long as paid for in a timelymanner, and if you have any questions, please ask themprior to bidding. I don'talways check eBay messages everyday, so you can call ortext Cort at 620-786-5172 with any questions, and I do have 100% positive feedback, so bid with confidence. This is a no reserveauction, so truck will sell. Thank you and good luck.
