Description

Email me and I will send you the carfax report I just ran. All clean, I am the 2nd owner, and owned it for 7yrs now.
I bought this car from BMW of Weatherford (Berkeley) as a Certified Pre-Owned when it had only 11K miles and about 2yrs old (only one oil change done by dealership, previous owner was local, so this is a 100% California car). I have kept it for 7+ yrs and now selling as I am moving to electric car to help with commute. I absolutely love this car - and took immaculate care of it. It has only 87K miles on it, and you can get another 100K+ out of it without any special care. Just regular maintenance needs to be done. I knew getting into BMW that they need to be well cared for, to get 200K+ miles out of them.
The car has:
Black exterior and black leather interior, with memory seats & memory mirrors
* 3.0Liter inline 6 (BMW famous straight six) N52 engine generating 218HP power
* premium package (leather, xenon auto-leveling and cornering lights, interior cooling lights, fog lamps, sunroof, below rearview mirrors parking lights. . .lots of little details)
* sunroof
* navigation (full 10+ inch split screen)
* bluetooth for cellular - is really handy. Very quiet car, so you can get on your long calls and do the commute. . .
* alarm system with blinker under the rear-view mirror
* keys with seat memory retentions (you and partner can have two separate keys, and when unlocked, the seats + side mirrors will auto-adjust to your settings. . .)
This is what I followed religiously, most of this tasks I did it myself (when I love a car, I really go the extra mile to take care of it too):
it had BMW certified warranty for 6yrs, 100K miles, and I had also bought extended service contract - so all regular maintenance was prepaid for. But, that said, I didn't agree to some of the extended services BMW recommended, so in between prepaid maintenance, I did the way I thought was good (I am an active member in various BMW forums and learnt a lot from the members there how to take good care for it). This is not an M5, so I don't drive it like it is in a race - this is a very dependable and extremely safe family luxury car, and I took care of it the same way.
I bought all parts from either bavauto.com, pelicanbmw.com or autohausaz.com (all BMW dealerships that sell OEM parts at 20-30% off list price)
* high quality 91 Octane gas. I don't skimp on it. I put shell 91, and from the same pump, very close to our home.
* oil change every 7.5K miles, with BMW synthetic oil + filter. Last done: 84.2K miles, April 2016
* brake fluid flush every 2yrs (regardless of miles): last done: 75.8K miles, April 2015
* transmission fluid drain and refill every 40K miles (this is expensive as the ZF oil is $25/quart and you need 6 quarts. Also replace the pan for $100. I did this one at germanmotorspecialist.com $700 recently): last done 86K miles, Sep 2016
* power steering fluid flush every 30K miles (done twice already) - last done: 85K miles, June 2016
* rear differential fluid flush every 50-60K miles or 5yrs (dealer says lifetime) - last done: 68.7K miles, July 2014
* Coolant flush every 50K miles or 3yrs: last done 68.7K, Jul 2014
* spark plugs every 60K miles (dealer says 100K): last done: 70K miles, Aug 2014 (you are good for another 60-80K miles).
* also replaced all the 6 ignition coils at the same time when replacing spark plugs ($200+ parts. Very easy to do it yourself when changing spark plugs).
* drive belt replaced: 68.7K, Jul 2014, along with tensioner pully and idler pully
* Fuel filter (under passenger seat, inside fuel tank) replaced at 86K miles, July 2016 (good to replace every 80-100K miles for optimum fuel pressure performance)
* Air filter (every 2yrs): 87K, Sep 2016
* cabin air filter (for AC, every 2-3yrs): 85K, Jun 2016
* tires are 225/50/R17s that are awesome quiet (bridgestones) - have at least another 30% trade left. Never need to rotate tires - BMW 5-series is 50/50 distribution, and BMW is right on this - don't rotate. They wear out every evenly.
* water pump failed and replaced at 65K miles (good idea to pro-actively replace this part every 60K miles. This is likely the only weak spot in the car - its an electric water pump so it is technically advanced, the engine computer does a great job with this to make the engine warm up faster and cool off faster too. The only issue? the electric water pumps are known to fail around 60-80K miles. I advise is to replace this every 60K miles so you are worry-free. I did this myself, but is a bit of pain to do - so take it to german motor specialist or another reputable BMW independent mechanic)
In addition, here are the other work done on the car:
S/W updated to Late 2016 release. This is good to keep the car's computers programmed with latest findings from BMW. Highly recommended. Just did this, for $225.
Brake pads, front: 61K miles, Nov 2013.
Brake rotors front: 61K miles, Nov 2013
Brake pads rear: 26K miles, Jul 2010
Brake rotors rear: not needed till now. Likely sometime next year, along with new rear pads.
Battery replaced: 72K miles, Sep 2014 (with 850CCA 110AH, Battery made in Germany, Battery cost $210, was re-programmed and registered with BMW)
Replaced with dealer during warranty:
* valves clicking fix new valve gaskets, back at 30K miles or so
* mechatronics seal leak (transmission): at 50K miles. Then again, I got it replaced during transmission pan & oil chance server at 86K miles (just a month or so ago)
* oil filter housing leak (I did this myself, as it was sitting at the top of the engine and easy to do)
The car is always garaged, always. The rear passenger and rear view glass are tinted. I always tint my cars to have a much cooler interior, leather material is better maintained, and looks cool too. debadged my 525i as I don't think BMW did a good job of giving this car a 525 badge while is is a 3.0L 6-cylinder inline engine. 525 makes it look like it is a 2.5L engine, which it is NOT. It gets you 215HP horse power/187 torque. I consistently get 22-23mpg in city/commute slow traffic, and 29MPG in long highway trips like going to LA/San Diego. The car has dings on both sides, and some minor scratches - let's face it. The car is always in the garage, kids take the bikes in and out multiple times a day, and more so on weekends, so scratches will happen. If you see a 9yr old car that has very clear exterior (not even a scratch), then you must doubt if this has just come out of a paint job/repair. My car has had ZERO accidents - I am really lucky, not even a fender bender. All the scratches and dings on the car are due to close-by parking, kids/bikes/things. . .
I am asking for $12,999, as I think you won't find a better maintained car that will give you another 100K+ miles without any issues - just follow the maintenance I have recommended above. If you are a serious buyer and have a price that you think is more appropriate, I am ready to listen. I have the title at hand (paid it off a long time ago), so ready to engage when you are.
thanks
