This 1989 Jaguar XJS Coupe is a 47k mile example that is finished in red over Buckskin leather interior. The car is powered by a V12 driving the rear wheels through a GM-sourced 3-speed automatic transmission. I have invested over $12k in extensive engine work during my three years with the car, including all new belts, wiring work, and a resurfacing of both cylinder heads with recut valves and valve seats. The car has been regularly maintained and is sold with an extensive service history, clean Carfax, and a Tennessee title as Maine does not issue titles for cars of this age.
The paintwork shows well in photos, with only minor blemishes in typical areas such as wheel arches. Please note in person, I will point out a 1.25″ area of visible rust just ahead of the passenger-side rear wheel. This is the only rust on the car and is an easy fix.
The brightwork is all present and shines nicely with no obvious rust or pitting, though there is some fading on the driver-side rear chrome trim.
Wire wheels were a common dealer or after-market option for the XJS, and this car rides on 60-spoke chrome wires. The wheels could benefit from a deep-cleaning, but are otherwise crisp.
The Buckskin leather interior shows very limited creasing, but no tears, stains, or notable blemishes. The drivers seat is pictured to show some wear, passenger and rear are like new. The heated seats and lumbar supports work on both seats. Other interior elements are clean for their age, including door panels, wood accents, and dash pad. The fuel gauge registers only 3/4 after filling, the cruise control has been removed. Finicky automatic seat belts have been removed and replaced with manual pull-type belts. Service history also notes the ABS indicator light comes on randomly, and the fault has been identified but not yet addressed. Braking is not affected.
The XJS center console "ski slope" trim has been replaced with a closely matching burl wood cleverly adapted to provide two stainless steel cup holders in place of the original cigar trays (available with the car). The A/C functions well, but cigar lighter is not working. A new radio and speakers with Bluetooth have been fitted, which required no new cuts in interior panels. The original radio is included in the sale.
The 5.3L HE V12 is believed original and has no known leaks. Over $12k in mechanical service has been conducted during his three-year ownership including:
Both cylinder heads resurfaced
Cylinder head gaskets, seals, and O-rings replaced
Valves and valve seats recut
Valve clearances adjusted
Auxiliary control valve replaced
Oxygen sensor replaced
Belts replaced
Brake accumulator replaced
Inhibitor switch at gearshift replaced
A/C compressor and belt tensioner assemblies replaced
Wiring tidied and labeled
Regular oil changes at 34k, 39k, 42k, 46k miles ( you can see that I have used this as a regular driver - 100 mile trips to Boston werecommon )
The undercarriage, drivetrain, and suspension components appear dry, with no signs of leaks from the engine or transmission. Some surface corrosion is visible, but no signs of significant rust issues.
I can help Interested parties contact the English-trained specialist who has worked on the car. The car is accompanied by original paperwork including radio code, security sticker, Jaguar leather folder, and dealer catalog. Service history from the original and current owners is provided. Full details of the clean Carfax is available as well as full service history from the time I owned it.
Some info on the life of this car. From what I have gathered from talking with the original dealer, Bluff City Jaguar. The single lady who owned it, did not drive it that much, and eventually had it in storage for many years. Original delivery date was 3/31/89 -- Door badge states a manufacturer date of 12/88. I have service records that document miles 15,841 (6-15-90) -- 21,462 (6-26-91) -- 21,806 (9-27-91) -- 21,979 (10-10-91) -- 22,128 (10-16-91) 22,827 (2-6-92) -- 22,885 (3-12-92) -- 23,025 (4-17-92)
I would like you to choose the transport company, I am happy to assist on my end.
