1961 IMPALA CONVERTIBLE

1961 IMPALA CONVERTIBLE. THE BAD: 3rd gear pops out sometimes. not to much of a problem but should get attention. some knicks on fender trim (i have new trim) the body needs some work behind front wheel wells and front of rear wheels. small amount of rust that was repaired not a great job. underneath has 2 rust spots about the 2" square. there are scratches on the trunk lid from garage door when on the lift. the interior of the top has rips on both sides see pics. cosmetic does not affect operation THE GOOD: strong running 283 factory ordered rochester 4brl carb duel exhaust with headman headers and flowmaster duel exhaust. sounds great. 4 wheel disc breaks cars stops awesome. excellent radial tires. famous radir wheels. rear air shocks (balloons in springs). recently done in last 6 months (500 miles) miles NEW timing chain. gear reduction starter and starter heat shield. valve cover gaskets. new battery. new flywheel and clutch. new clock. new ignition switch. new interior kick panels. all fluids checked that includes top motor. i have the original hubcaps and rims. also fender skirts. new trim in the boxes in the trunk. cd am/fm player located in glove compartment. this car starts right up. no smoke and runs excellent. i have taken long trips no problem (1. 00 miles in 2 days) you can get in and go anywhere. the car was used in 2 movies that i know of and quite a few tv shows recently with matt lauer showing the kids ringo starr took pics of in 1964 today. bottom line. my plans were to have all the body areas addressed. price quoted by a body shop that has done many cars for me (has my 1970 vw westy now) 3-4k. do a trans swap 500. 00. and put in a new carpet 500. 00 (good one) repair top interior rips? so you can drive as is for years. and enjoy the nice weather or when your ready put 4-5k and have a beautiful near number 1 car
