Description

1965 Sunbeam Tiger Mark 1 {one of 3. 62 Mark 1 Tigers made} Chassis # JAL 562165 engine 2523 T12KA Color 39 (red) ID plate has original rivets installed. but unfortunately was media blasted and is hard to read with photo picture. 39. 72 original miles. Less than 200 miles since re-build. Factory LAT (Los Angeles Tiger) optional fiberglass hood and traction bars Passenger compartment Dual Vent System (this was standard on later Marks. but I have not seen many of these on Mark 1's. Absolutely great on warm days!!!!!) The car was purchased new in the Portland. OR area in 1965. The second owner lived in the Portland area and had aspirations to turn the Tiger into an auto-crosser. The original engine was replaced by a 1985 Mustang Police Car Engine SVO 5. 0 liter. Several other racing mods were made that will be described later. The car was media blasted and epoxy primered. I bought the car three years ago and started a complete re-do. Absolutely no wreck damage or major rust in car. In fact the floor boards and frame are all extremely nice! The rear wheel wells had been radiused to accomodate bigger tires. but have been put back to stock by professional body/paint shop. Exterior was re-painted red base paint with clear over coat and looks awesome. No dings or scratches. Bumpers and guards were re-chromed. Triplex made in England windshield new and flawless. Side windows original and good shape. Stainless Steel Bolts and screws used in re-do. Engine: 1985 5. 0 Mustang Police SVO. That includes the good GT40 heads and roller rockers (see picture). Bored out 30 over with new pistons. windage tray. nbsp;and heads re-done with hardened seats for unleaded gas use. New Holley 650 double pumper on Edelbrock manifold. Entire Exhaust System from header thru Super Turbo mufflers to tail pipe powder coated with high temp product. Mallorey Electronic Ignition. Chromed rad shroud. expansion tank. and inner fender braces. This engine produces tremendous horsepower and definitely gives a ROARRRRR to this Tiger! Original 260 might be available thru second owner? Lakewood Bell housing. Hays Clutch. and aluminum flywheel. Original 4 speed top loader re-built. Shifter re-chromed. Rear end re-built with Torsen-Gleeson posi-traction gears 3:30 ratio New brake and gas lines. Holley electric fuel pump. Adjustible Shocks. Brakes re-built and new Lockheed power booster installed. Ball joints & tie rods new. Steering Rack & Pinion was re-built. All new tan upholstery and carpet. New bottom seat foam and under rubber supports. Dash is made from solid walnut and contains a walnut cover for the glove box. All gauges work. Heater. horns. wipers. etc all work correctly. JVC AM/FM/CD player with 4 speakers surround sound system. Moto Lita Steering Wheel New Black Convertible Top. Radiator re-cored with dimple core and cools fine. New panasport 14 inch wheels and new uniroyal "Tiger Paws" tires. Over the past 2 years I have driven the car 200 miles to car shows and sunny day drives. It is fast! I am starting another Tiger and need the garage space. You can own this piece of Carroll Shelby History as a rare Shelby modified Sunbeam Tiger. Only 7700 Tigers were produced from 1964 thru 1967 and Tigers are true collector cars. Original owner registered Tiger with Norm Miller. I will guarantee that this is a genuine Tiger!!!!! Check out the photos of the battery hold downs. exhaust cut outs and hanger brackets. inner fender stretch for generator. and fuel pump access door that are unique to Tigers! Also holes for access to the #8 spark plug and valve cover bolt are in the firewall and rubber plugged as original. PLEASE ONLY BID ON THIS CAR IF YOU ARE SINCERE ABOUT COMPLETING THE PURCHASE. Left To Do: the cable wire controlling the heater water valve broke. Valve can be operated manually under hood. Again heater works fine! Drive and enjoy!
