Please read carefully, will try to describe all I know about the caras accurately as I can:
This BMW would be a great project car or agoodparts car. It is the first 1/2 of the 1999 model, hich I learned from the very pricey transmission selector switch that was replaced.
This is my son's car, hich he hastily purchased and when he found out that he can not afford to keep it up, e purchased another car and he left the BMW at my place.
Last time my son used the BMW was on a 1 hour trip out of town in Fall of 2014, he car overheated with the coolant overflowing. This required aninstallation of new radiator, adiator cap,hoses, ater pump, hermostat and belts. I read on www, hat these engines are susceptible to head warpage when overheated, lease keep this in mind.
Unfortunately the car sat unused after that. I would start it about once a month and let it idle for about an hour, o everything gets warmed up and lubricated and the battery gets recharged.
The car received the following maintenance/repairs while it was in use for the limited time:
NEW SPARKPLUGS, br>NEW SPARKPLUG BOOTS, br>NEW TRANSMISSION SELECTOR SWITCH [solved occasional eratic shifting]
NEW DISC PADS ALL AROUND
NEW RADIATOR, adiator cap and Hoses
NEW ACCESSORIES BELTs
NEW WATER PUMP
NEW THERMOSTAT+HOUSING
NEW AIR FILTER
The tires have60%+ of thread on them.
Theproblems that I am awareof:
If gas is filled more then 1/2 the tank the gas will leak.
Unfortunately I was not able to start it in November. It cranks, owever does not start.
The headliner cloth is coming off on the back rear pilar.
Windshield has a horizontal thermal crack.
Tachometer does not work.
There is no spare tire, he BMW tool kit is also missing.
The car is sold as i, here is, o warranties impliead or otherwise. The buyer is responsible for the transport of the car.
The NADA "Rough Trade In" value is $1,750.
My son requested a duplicate title for the car, nfortunately as it is over 15 year old, he DMV will not issue atitle.
We will use theDMV forms to complete the ownership transfer for the vehicle.
