Description

1957 Plymouth Belvedere 4 Door Hardtop Excellent Shape-Ready to Cruise 301 V8 Torqueflite Pushbutton I am selling this 1957 Belvedere. This is a beautiful car ready for you to hop in and drive. This is an absolutely rock solid rust free vehicle- 1957 and 1958 Plymouths were prone to rust issues and are rare to find in this shape! The interior is excellent and has been redone with correct fabric. Door panels are either original or original fabric. The highly sought after steering wheel is complete, but looks has a few minor cracks and it has been covered with electrical tape on the black area. Easy restore. The headliner is great shape, original correct three panel type, with nice chrome bow covers. White wall bias tires give this car a sweet look when complimented with the fender skirts. Car is power steering, manual brakes. The car starts right up. I just did a tune up and oil change and installed a brand new 900 cca oversized battery to insure solid starts. Runs like a top and as smooth as a sewing machine with no smoke even after sitting. Only a few very minor issues. The transmission takes a bit to first shift into drive if it has been sitting. This was a common problem with these cars as when they age the convertors tend to leak back into the pan (this problem was solved a couple of years later with proper anti-backflow valves.) Once it is in gear you are good to go and it shifts smooth and perfect without slippage. Unless the car sits awhile you can hop in and you will not have the delay. Radio is in trunk, previous owner put a pad over the area it goes in, not sure why. I just rebuilt the rear brake cylinders, they were sticking from lack of use, linings were like new so I cleaned them up and put back in. The horn does not work and I have not looked into, usually pretty simple. Dash lights not coming on, could be switch or just need bulbs, again, simple to diagnose. Car is not charging right now. Previous owner put in an alternator, it does not seem to be putting out a charge. The original generator is in the trunk and likely works, it is just a matter of getting the correct belt. I would have taken care of the minor issues, but I travel extensively and already have a couple of project cars and this one is low on the list as I can just hop in and go, it drives great. AGAIN, THIS CAR IS RUST FREE-ORIGINAL FLOORS, TRUNK ETC. NO RUST AND EXTREMELY WELL PRESERVED. If I had more room I would just keep this car, but I over estimated how long it would take me to get a few things done around the house and need room more than another car. I am a long time 1957 and 1957 Plymouth lover and have owned dozens of these and other vintage Mopars. My feedback speaks for myself. If anything I am brutally honest about the car’s condition. I can guarantee most others are not as I have been on the wrong end of their lack of disclosure several times. I am listing at a very fair buy it now and it would go for more on an auction but I just want to make it clean and easy for all, so your gain. Please ask questions or send an email and I will get back to you. Enjoy!
