Double click on the arrow below to go to full screen. 1968 Plymouth Fury III convertible In 1956 Plymouth came out with their hotrod car. which was the very first Plymouth Fury. 1957 & 1958 these cars were not only hotrods they were extremely good looking thanks to the designs of Virgil Exner. From there on the Plymouth Fury was the top of the line for Plymouth. The car in this ad. the 1968 Plymouth Fury III still retains much of the excitement of the original Plymouth Furys. The Commando 383 motor was known for having more then peppy acceleration and the Torque Flight automatic transmission was not only used for the Plymouth Fury III but also by many hotrodders that would beef it up for drag purposes. The Fury III is one of the largest Fury’s made and has plenty of room for a large family. THE SELLER HAS PROVIDED SOME COMMENTS. The original owner bought this car off of a Connecticut show room floor in 1968. The current owner says it was very important to the original owner that this car stay in the hands of a collector who would maintain it as it has always been since new. See photo of original owner driving the car in front of Daytona USA sign in 1992. The current owner is the 2nd owner since 2006 when he purchased from the original owner. The current owner has indicated that the car is a matching numbers car. This car is equipped with Commando 383 V8 with 2 barrel carburetor rated at 280 HP and matched to the original 727 Torque Flight automatic transmission. The car runs great with engine. transmission and suspension all in excellent repair. The seller said the car sounds great and he gets lots of compliments on the car. The seller exercises the car a couple times a month to keep it in great running condition and he just loves driving it. The car has been painted twice in the factory correct color of light metallic blue. Note the Data Plate Code indicates SPECIAL ORDER 999 paint. The original interior is showing signs of getting a little tired. see the photos. One cigarette burn in the vicinity of the driver’s seat – see photo. The convertible top has glass back window and boot cover. There is a very slight split on the passenger side of the top – see photo. Check out the original chrome. The only area that needs attention is the “boot cap end” that looks like pot metal and very minor pitting. The seller has the period correct seat belts that will go with the car but they are not currently installed. Owner’s Manual. period correct. goes with car. The car has power steering and has been upgraded with power drum brakes. AM Radio with working fader. Seller said the mileage is about 120. 19. Break down of the VIN code.
