How can this car only have 2890 miles and have it survived all these years virtually intact as a time capsule of sorts? There’s obviously a story to tell. question is will you read it?Let’s try and condense it all for the sake of this auction. In the late 1970s Pontiac was riding high with the overwhelming popularity and success of the Pontiac Trans Am in part due to Mr. Burt Reynolds and his hijinks aboard the Trans Am in the blockbuster Smokey and the Bandit. The other part and most important is the fact that this car and its styling is muscular. sexy. and awe inspiring. People were admiring these screamin’ chickens for their long swooping body lines and aggressive stance with flared fenders. even for the sometimes excessive striping and graphics that adorned these vehicles. Everyone has an attachment or a story around a certain automobile that evokes fond memories. For me. it was the Pontiac Trans Am!Let’s go back to this particular vehicle; The Trans Am was purchased new from Ide Pontiac Inc. in Rochester. NY by what we could call then an automotive enthusiast. Let me clarify… The gentleman who purchased this vehicle already had his share of highly regarded performance autos at his disposal. Not because he was a collector or he could envision the upside value of these vehicles years later. I assure you there was no crystal ball. He simply bought them because he wanted them and most of all enjoyed driving them. This red chicken shared the coup with some real bad boy roosters; A Shelby Cobra 'Dragonsnake'. a Boss 302. a couple TRs. a Midget racer. a Ford GT. Corvette. Motorcycles. you get the picture…By no means a hoarder. more like a renaissance man who appreciates design and function with directed performance for ultimate efficiency. I believe that would have been his own answer in describing himself. The Trans Am was obviously not the only means of transportation and it was enjoyed visually while parked for extended periods of time as much as when driven. A work of art in Design and Function. So. how do we know or can prove the miles to be legit?Easily answered! The original and only owner of this vehicle is around and more than willing to put in his two or three cents into a conversation about his cars. Also. we have documents that show a timeline as well some of the DMV and NY State Inspection receipts as additional proof.
