Tri-Power. 4-Speed. Posi-Traction. Air Conditioned GTO with all the Original Panels. The Ram Air was a rare option that either was a dealer-installed or a RPO option. From the information I have found only 300+ Ram Air packages were sold to dealers and only 25-35 RPO were installed at the factory. From what I have gathered I believe this was dealer installed packageIf you are looking for a car to take to car shows and consistently take first. second. or third place. this is your car. If you are looking for a car that you can be proud of and drive anywhere. this is your car. This beauty was born in California. then spent most of it life in Georgia and Central Florida. This car has original floor and trunk panels. plus original fenders. doors. quarter panels. trunk lid. roof. hood. and rocker panels. This is an uncut body that has structural integrity. ENGINE. TRANSMISSION. REAR END. AND AIR CONDITIONING: Close to $12. 00 was spent on the engine. air conditioning and transmission. The Engine Block Codes located near the distributor are: F36=June 3. 1966. 977879=1966 389 GTO. This is the correct date coded Ram Air 389 cubic inch. Tri-Power Motor. has the original 093 heads with upgraded 211/177 valves with new 3 angle valve job. new guides. and decked perfectly flat. The intake is a correct 66 Tri-Power unit. The Cam is the correct 1966 Ram Air Cam for the year. With the reproduction ram air pan and the hood scoop cut out to be made a functional Ram Air. this Beast will move. Other upgraded features include a High Volume Oil Pump and a disguised Aluminum Champion Radiator that keeps this GTO running Cool. The Verdict is a really nice combination for overall performance and power. Behind this motor and transferring the power to the rear wheels is a Muncie M-20 fully synchronized 4-speed transmission. The 4-speed shifts well and was completely gone through to include the clutch. pressure plate. and linkage. The power is delivered to the rear wheels through a 3:55 (39:11) YH Safe-T-Track Rear End. As you can see. the Air Conditioning System is original. but has been completely refurbished and all new parts installed. The system has a new condenser. dryer. muffler kit. hoses. and O rings. The compressor and evaporator case are original. I had R-12 refrigerant put into the system at a cost of $230. I also had the AC technician put dye into the system. in case in the future you develop a leak. it can be discovered early and the precious R-12 saved. This car blows COLD 60 DEGREES AIR. EXTERIOR: It is amazing what a $10. 00 PPG Ruby Red Jewel paint job will do to a GTO. Review the 108 pictures of the exterior of this beautiful Goat and you will see no corners were cut in restoring this GTO. This laser straight body was painted with "Top of The Line" PPG Deltron 2000. The Tri-Coat Ruby Red Jewel PPG Deltron 2000 paint alone cost $2230 (Base=$1220/gallon. Mid-Coat=$490/gallon and Clear Coat=$520/gallon) The color we choose was Ruby Red Jewel. which looks a lot better than the original Marina Turquoise that the car was born with. and it attracts a lot more attention. As mentioned above. this car has all the original body parts and only has little finishing putty in it. Most of the chrome is original to the car. The back bumper was replaced. As the picture indicates. the original front driver’s side headlight bezel has a little bit of pitting. I was going to replace it. but nobody makes an aftermarket driver’s side bezel. The chrome tips on the exhaust are brand new. I had the hood scoop cut out so it is functional for the Ram Air. Did you notice Ram Air decals that I had put on the hood? It makes a nice touch for this sleeper. To complete and enhance the GTO’s looks. you have the GR-RRR! Front License Plate. the TIGER TAIL hanging from the Rear License Plate. and the HURST EQUIPPED trunk emblem. INTERIOR: Look at the 42 pictures of this beautiful Black Bucket Seat Interior. Notice the center console with the Hurst Shifter. To enhance the look of the interior. I bought a brand new Wood Steering Wheel. which cost $450. To monitor the engine. you have a complete set of factory gauges. to include tachometer. speedometer. odometer. temp. oil. fuel. plus a battery idiot light. For your listening pleasure. we have an aftermarket Pontiac AM/FM Stereo Cassette Radio. I don’t play it much because the “Rumble of the Exhaust” is Music to my Ears. In the glove box is Owner’s Manual still in the plastic. Look at the beautiful headliner and you will see two Side Roof Rail Optional Map Reading/Interior Lights (very rare). To protect the new carpet. I have a set of GTO floor mats. If the weather is hot. just roll up the windows and turn on the AC and drive in comfort. The AC technician put a thermometer on the outlet and the AC was blowing cool air at 60 degrees. TRUNK: Look at the 14 pictures of the trunk and you will see it has a factory two piece mat and a factory spare tire cover. The spare tire is brand new. The jack assembly is original and painted the correct Pontiac Blue. I pulled the mat back to show you the rust-free original trunk floor. Notice the jacking instructions on the trunk lid and the fantastic paint job on the trunk lid. The pictures also show the brand new Kenwood 6X9 3-way 400 watt rear speakers that are mounted under the rear shelf. PONTIAC HISTORIC SERVICES (PHS) DOCUMENTATION: Eight pictures show the documentation received from Pontiac Historic Services that confirm that this car is a TRUE TRI- POWER GTO. Besides the PHS documentation shown in the pictures. the package also includes GTO production figures.
