You are looking at a 56 Pontiac Chieftain 2 door sedan. This is a 70% solid base to build into anything you want. Make it original. go gasser style. resto-mod or my favorite…. NASCAR clone. I do not have any history on this car. I got it in a garage clean out. The car still retains the original 317 2bbl V8 and AT trans. I’ve never tried to get it running. Engine does turn over by hand. The frame is very solid. I noticed new brake lines and the car does have a full brake pedal. The hood is solid and straight. Each front fender needs a lower patch panel and a little work in the front near the hood. The door skins have a few bubbles in the corners. otherwise solid and straight. The bottoms are solid. The ¼ panels each need a patch in front of the wheel opening. otherwise solid and straight. The truck lid has a few dents across the curve. otherwise solid and straight. even on the inside lip. The trunk floor is solid. even the spare tire hump. The floors inside have patches but ain’t too bad. The second to last 2 pictures show the factory undercoating and the fact the floor braces. body mounts and rocker panels are solid. (last picture is what it could be. not the actualy car). The core support. inner fenders and everything else under the hood is solid. This car does need door glass for both doors (same as 55-57 Chevy and easy to buy). All other glass is good. With the exception of the one curved piece of stainless door trim (missing). any other stainless trim not on the car is laying inside the car. Bumpers and grill have pitting. The 56 plate goes with. Unfortunately. some one nabbed the front seat for a 56 Chevy project. I threw 2 buckets in it. The back seat is good (and worth around $400 to folks building 55-57 Chevy 2dr sedans. The dash is very nice and retains the original radio. The steering wheel is nice but the center horn cap lens is broken. Overall. this car would be fairly easy to make road worthy. If I were keeping it. I’d simply put a 350. 400 or 455 Pontiac in it with a TH350. replace the door glass and drive it as is. DAVE AT 570-527-3450
