Description

1963 Pontiac Grand Prix Restoration Project Purchased as a dream project. the hard work is done. now you can finish it to suit! I am listing this for a friend. He sought long and hard to find a 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix with all available factory options. He finally found the car last year and started the project. You get to finish the project and complete the build. Upon purchase. the car was sent to a restoration shop to begin the project. The car was disassembled and stripped to bare metal as shown in the photos and any rust was cut out and new metal welded in. The parts were cleaned and the transmission was rebuilt. The tranny. a Slim Jim is ready to install after a $4000 rebuild. A New 421/4 bolt was sourced that has the proper build date to match the car correct for a 1963 with automatic transmission and is available separate of this auction if the buyer has interest. That 421 block is the very rare block used in the Catalina Super Duty but coded for a Grand Prix automatic. The 389 is complete with heads. correct dated December 62 tri-power intake/triple carbs/ etc. convey with the auction. The car had every option Pontiac offered including factory cruise control added on the assembly line as noted on the build sheet. This car comes with a copy of the window sticker and build sheet. As you can see the car was built with every available option and designated a company car. (an internal term) some know these as Brass Hat cars which is the public name. The car was not intended to be delivered to a dealership. rather it was made for a company executive in the Baltimore zone. The story from the previous owner is the zone manager who "had to have it all" - notice he added speed control and it appears written in on the build sheet as mentioned earlier - and wanted a 421 in the Grand Prix. which was not an option and took the car to a dealership to have one installed. A correct 389 was subsequently installed by the second owner. That is why a "hard to find" correct dated 421 was sourced. The current owner wanted to put it back in that configuration. It is your choice how you wish to finish the car. From the restoration shop:Body has been bead blasted & about 90% of the metal replacement work has been completed. including floor boards. trunk floor. firewall & body pieces. Frame and most suspension parts have been cleaned & powder coated. Rear end has been cleaned & painted. Includes original date coded 389 tri-power engine. Engine has been disassembled & cleaned. ready for rebuild. All accessories including AC compressor. bolts & nuts have been bagged & tagged & boxed. All glass & interior pieces are also included. This car had all available options for 1963 and will be included. Also included are all pre-disassembly photos as well as progress photos. Photos show the car as received. the current state of restoration and the parts. This is a complete car. Many little things have been done while the major work was in process such as the All the power window and power vent window motors have been rebuilt and work perfectly. Comes with an original alternator that is the specific model for that car and properly date coded for the car . The speedometer had not been out of the car and shows 130k miles.
