They are so much fun to drive and can put out some crazy horsepower. When these 930s are built right. they can be fast and reliable. This particular Turbo is the perfect example. Plus. it was modified by one of the best names in the business…Andial. The car was originally sold new here in California. One of the earlier owners is now husband (for the past 12-years) to Grammy award winner. Gladys Knight. While he owned the car. he certainly had the resources to not only maintain the car. but to also modify it properly. Andial performed all the initial engine build/conversion. When the car had around 20. 00 miles. the odometer stopped working so it was replaced with a new factory one. The car was sold to the next owner in 2004. This owner took care of the car and had Supertec (very reputable Porsche specialist in San Diego) do most of the service including a full engine reseal. He sold the car in 2010 to a local SoCal enthusiast. This owner started maintaining the car with AASE Motors in Fullerton. CA. They are a very well respected/established Porsche repair facility in Southern California and well known among the Porsche Owner’s Club community. Recently. he had AASE Motors go through the mechanicals and completely rebuild the engine and the transmission. The repair bill was over $20. 00! The owner drove 1. 00 miles and then took it back to AASE for an inspection. oil change. and tune-up. This owner lives in Arizona. Shortly after purchasing the car. he employed the help of Patrick Motorsports. This is one of the better-known independent Porsche specialists in the Southwest. They are gurus when it comes to working with modified cars. They performed the following work: Oil serviceNew fuel accumulatorNew steering wheel bushingsInstall RSR-style rear sway bar (22mm hollow from Tarrett Engineering)Sway bar drop link kitNew windshield. seal and trimComplete rebuild of A/C system (built to 993 specification/update with condenser in fender)Install Setrab oil cooler in front bumper with steel braided hosesNew front tiresAlignment In total. around $15. 00 was recently invested with Patrick Motorsports. They completely went through the car and every small thing like loose wires or minor repairs was sorted. More importantly. the owner wanted to drive the car in the hot AZ summer and have cold A/C and not worry about the car over heating. Patrick Motorsports completely overhauled the A/C system and the oil cooling system. They increased the flow of the oil to ensure better cooling as well as updated the A/C system to the 993 style with everything new. The net result is a wonderful touring Porsche that is incredibly fast but also pleasant enough to take on long-distance tours. The body is in very good original condition and aside from the hood. the paint is original. There is a small blemish on the left rear fender where a suspension piece broke and got caught between the tire and the fender (see pic). Also. the hood paint has some minor chipping along the front edge. The factory vinyl rear fender protectors have been replaced (they tend to peel as they get older). The interior is equally nice. The original carpet looks great with no stains and minimal signs of use. The headliner is also nice and the sunroof panel has been replaced and looks perfect. The dash is straight with no warping or cracks. The door panels are in excellent shape as well. The custom factory sport seats also look nice except for a small blemish on the driver-side bolster red jumbo welt. The back seats were removed and a custom subwoofer box was professionally installed. The work is extremely nice and it is removable. The custom stereo was installed sometime ago. The quality of parts and craftsmanship is outstanding. They even used a very expensive McIntosh amplifier (see pic). I’m guessing this was Gladys’ influence. This 930 really drives great. It is tight. shifts smoothly. and has gobs of power and torque. It is easy and civilized to cruise with the A/C blowing cold but when you step on the throttle. its true nature is unleashed. The car is running great and recently a dyno run was performed to see power output. The results were 367 hp and 372 torque at the rear wheels. That’s equivalent to 410 horsepower. This car includes the tool kit. spare tire (which does not fit over the brakes). jack. and quite a few records.
