Description

1984 Porsche 928 Euro Auto No Sunroof in Slate Blue Metallic Being a Euro (which means 310 HP versus the U. S. version 240 HP). the real VIN of WP0ZZZ92ZES840246 is not accepted by EBay's template as European VIN's don't conform to the algorithms that apply to US VIN's. Disregard the VIN that is displayed by the VIN box. This add is intended to give a complete and accurate description of the car. what I know about it. and what I've done to it. If you know 928's. you'll know by the unique model. color. and what I disclose that this is a really special car at a good price. I bought this car in Kansas City 6 months ago from a small car lot that got it from CarMax. It was dirty. leaking oil terribly. was low on power. and had grinding breaks but it was a desirable model and color and you could tell someone used to love it so I took it. The only reason I’m selling is because I long for a 5 speed. In a conversation with someone I met on the Rennlist (Porsche enthusiast forum). he drove the car 1 year prior and it was presented by the previous owners daughter. She said he imported it in 86 or 87 and kept it until he passed away. By my estimate (an oil change sticker). it sat for 5 years before I got it. It comes with only the records I have which I accumulated over 6 months. The odometer shows just over 26k miles. I assume from normal wear signs that this is not accurate but there is no easy way to find out since it has no records. Nevertheless. it was loved. The price was very low for a car with a lot of positives which was why I pulled the trigger (http://rennlist. com/forums/928-forum/843709-kansas-city-84-euro-save. html). The repaint of the slate blue metallic is beautiful. only some minor flaws here and there. The front seats were recovered and are excellent. The dash. pod. and rear interior quarter panels were recovered in dark blue vinyl. Not original. but presents very well. All of the lenses are in excellent shape with no cracks or pitting. The front spoiler is damn near perfect which means it was babied or replaced. It had a Borla Cat-back exhaust system installed. These are signs to me that it was well kept. I was surprised that I made it home the 500 + miles after I got home. The PO had put in some aftermarket fuel injectors with the wrong impedance. The compensation for this was to put capacitors spliced into the wiring right before the injector. Why would someone do this? The fuel injectors for the 84-86 Euros are no longer available and thus very expensive. if not. no existent. I purchased a new set of 24 lbs. injectors with a custom set of machined barbs from Greg Brown (http://rennlist. com/forums/928-forum/845331-1984-85-euro-upgrade-fuel-injectors-16-valve. html). The fuel injectors. a re-calibrated MAF. and new custom chips from John Speake (http://jdsporsche. com/16v%20performance%20EPROMS. html) totally restored the power issues. I put new rotors and pads on the rear to fix the break issues. I bought the C4S turbo twist wheels. refinished and installed them. Tires have about 40% tread left. The rears are 11 inch which required stiffening the rear and rolling the fenders. Therefore I put a set of Bilstein shocks on the rear and raised the ride height an 1/8th inch to prevent rubbing. I put new 6. 5 in kenwood speakers in the rear. and new Alpine CD player with Bluetooth in the dash. and a small 8 inch isobaric sub in the rear. I cleaned the window and seat switches which restored their functions. I installed new spark plugs. caps. and rotors. The existing plug wires were in great condition. New Lloyds black floor mats with blue lettering in the front. As far as leaks. the car still leaks oil some. The main culprit is the oil pan gasket. I have the silicone replacement (to replace the stock cork gasket) and new motor mounts (from 928sRus) that will go with the car if I don’t get this job done before the sale. If the job does get done. the price will be adjusted accordingly. It doesn’t need motor mounts but this is a good while-you-are-at-it job if you do the oil pan gasket since the cross member has to come out. The leak was much worse before I tightened the oil pan bolts (at least the ones I could get to). This has slowed the leak. but it would need attention soon unless you don’t mind the drips. When I first got the car. a 500 mile trip went through 2 quarts of oil which was dispersed all over the underside. You could do the trip now and only loose maybe a ¼ quart. The ABS warning light illuminates when driving. I have verified that each of the ABS sensors are disconnected. New sensors would likely fix this. AC doesn’t work. There is a small tear on the top of the left rear seat.
