Description

This car retains a salvage title. It has been rebuilt to the highest standards. It has acquired 50. 00 miles since the rebuild. It is the result of wanting a 997gt3RS but with the shear rawness of the 996 gt3. Even though we were aware that only 750 996 GT3s were sold in the U. S. . we were able to acquire a damaged but rebuildable 996 gt3 in 2008. At that time 996GT3's were at their lowest value and insurance companies were totaling these because their repair to value was easy to exceed. We can all recall the Shelby GT350s. XKEs. nbsp;356s etc. that were written off by insurance companies in the 1960s and 70s because of their lower value-to-repair cost ratio. Many of these cars were rebuildable and would be saved today simply because of their current values. Also. being a long time Vintage automobile enthusiast. I have always found it hard to not save any great car. The search brought a [20K] Silver 2004 996 GT3 that had extensive panel damage. Even though nearly every body panel below the window line was damaged. the airbags had not deployed. [confirmed with carfax] Here was a one owner car that was sold and damaged within a month of the 2nd owners purchase. A full tear down removing any damaged parts was completed. What remained was a structurally sound GT3. Damage was generally superficial with the exception of damage extending to the front right side inner fender and radiator. The decision was made to save this rare GT3. Since it was to be my personal car. nbsp;we proceeded with a rebuild to the highest standards as a 997 GT3RS. Everything was removed from the car including the interior. Only new Porsche parts were used to correct 997gt3RS details throughout the exterior. [even 997 door handles were used] This was not a simple build and it was quite costly. The car was completed in early 2009. We drove the car frequently and in 2010 sold it with approximately 30. 00 miles to a GT3 enthusiast in Seattle. He made additional improvements to the car such as fitting proper OEM 997 GT3RS 19 inch wheels and a $6000. 00 AWE Tuning headers and exhaust system. He also participated in various events such as the “Open Road” event through Nevada. The car still retains the Tech inspection sticker for that event. When we sold the car we felt great sellers remorse and asked that if he ever sells it to please give me first option to purchase. In October of 2013 I purchase the car for the second time. This time with 76K miles on the odometer. In February 2014 I had the orange GT3RS graphics removed and all paint flaws corrected. [stone chips etc] as well as replace the AWE CATs with factory units to conform to California requirements and install new oxygen sensors. [The original AWE units are not street legal] The only body panels on the car that vary from a stock 997RS items are the rocker panels. These are one piece rockers we've seen on the competition cars. The car retains all of its original mechanics specific to the 996 GT3 which includes the two-stage resonance intake system. and GT3 uprated dry-sump oiling system. 380 horsepower at 7. 00 rpm. 285 pound-feet of torque at 5. 00. and an 8. 00-rpm redline. The AWE Tuning exhaust upgraded stated to increase BHP to approx 400. Retains the GT3 transmission with its shorter (numerically higher) fifth- and sixth-gear ratios. Note: the top four gears in the GT3 were steel synchronizers [rather than brass in other 996s] for increased durability. Suspension has not been altered in any way as it is unique to the GT3 where Porsche replaced the typical rubber strut-top bearings with steel balls to reduce deflection under high cornering loads. GT3s have fully adjustable camber. ride height. and antiroll bars. Brakes are the larger GT3 13. 8-inch diameter [front] and 13-inch [rear] six-piston calipers. Note: Not Ceramic Composite. Exterior Upgrades include 997 GT3RS Rear fenders. Rear Bumper. Rocker panels. Engine lid with Carbon fiber RS wing. RS front air dam with RS lip. Mirrors. Hood. 997 door handles. 997 front bumper. fenders. nbsp; 997 front /rear lights. turn signals. third light. exhaust. graphics. nbsp; OEM GT3RS 19 inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 235/35 ZR19 at front and 305/30 ZR19 at rear. Getty Design carbon Fiber Dive Planes and Carbon fiber mirror caps We also made various changes to the interior in the RS spirit. These changes include RS door jamb plates. 996 sport seats with contrasting orange stitching and Alcantera inserts. Alcantera steering wheel. Alcantera headliner. Carbon fiber hand brake handle and gear shift knob. Factory OEM Tequipment bar. Passenger side Fire Extinguisher mount. CD. Climate Control. retains all correct GT3 gauges [8200 rpm redline] Valentine V1 is not included with the vehicle. The car simply performs perfectly. It is spot on. Always kept in a climate controlled garage and maintained by a very reputable Porsche shop in the San Francisco bay area. Since the build it has been driven regularly. Recently while driving back to Northern California the airbag light came on. Evaluation of such appears that a belt retract is malfunctioning and needs replacement. Flaws: Typical of every GT3 I've seen. the front lower air dam has some scrape marks on the bottom side. Small "bump" on the rubber on the base of the window at the driver side door. Should be removed and replaced/corrected. Also of note is that there has never been an issue to fully insure this Porsche by our insurance company. They inspected the car and agreed to insure it at stated value without question on the spot. We are hoping that this GT3 is bought by someone that will enjoy and preserve it. It is a wonderful car with no apologies needed. We welcome any Porsche expert to inspect it. If it doesn't meet the reserve it will be kept. We reserve the right to finish this auction at any time. Sold as is. Bid with confidence. Buyer is responsible to coordinate and pay all shipping fees.
