2000 Carrera Tiptronic - Bad Engine

Went out to start car 1 week ago. White smoke and noise from engine. Car was towed to Porsche dealer. Diagnosed with coolant and a crack in cylinder #2. Dealer put a scope into all cylinders and found coolant and what looks like a crack. I have read that this is not uncommon in the 3. 4 engine. Dealer says definitely requires a new motor. The car was not run for more than minutes with the problem so hopefully no other damage done that would affect core swap or rebuild. Don't know that for sure since both the deal and I have been reluctant to run the engine since the problem was found. I have what I think are all records for the car. I don't see record of IMS or RMS work being done so plan on that if you rebuildCar is a two owner. well cared for vehicle. Original owner sold car at 57. 00 miles to a friend of his daughter who sold it to me at 58. 00 miles. I have owned it 2 years and put 5. 00 miles on it. The car has always been garaged and never tracked to my knowledge. Driven mostly by my wife on summer days. I put new tires on the car 1200 miles ago and had dealer do oil change. No other work when I owned it. Automatic transmission has always worked great. I have never seen any signs of body damage or other issues. Interior is in excellent condition. No tears. Few marks on painted surfaces but generally very nice. Engine and under carriage are clean and rust free. Not a car that has been beat up or driven hard. I don't want to go through the engine swap. Parts are worth more than the price but I don't want to part it out. Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to cancel the auction and sell it locally at any time. Thanks for looking.
