Description

Hello Porsche fans. You are bidding on my beautiful 1990 Porsche 964 Carrera 4. Over the last year and a half. this car has had over $26. 00 put into it to make it the way I wanted it to be. Unfortunately for me. I have to sell it due to an unexpected move to Atlanta. Georgia and the car did not come with me. It is still currently in Greentown. Indiana in the garage. Please read entire description before messaging me. When I bought the car in 2013. the first stop was O’Daniel Porsche in Ft. Wayne. Indiana for a PPI. The report came back as expected with thousands of dollars in typical 964 needs (and dealer inflated prices). I have the report to show anyone. but the needs list has been satisfied. Also. my main concern for the visit; a compression test was performed to check the health of the higher-mileage engine and clutch. The numbers came back extremely solid. so I started the fun. This car was originally ordered Linen Grey from the factory. but when I purchased the car it was black. I was told when I bought the 911 it was originally a Grand Prix White car. The doctor two owners ago had it painted black after a light front end accident in 2002 in the hospital parking lot (listed on Carfax and not Autocheck. Have copies of both to show in person). I sent for the Authenticity Report from Porsche North America and the answer confirmed the Linen Grey color. I wanted a white 964 and with the money spent on highest end Grand Prix White paint mixed with my lack of fondness for the original color. I decided to stick with it…I think it turned out phenomenal and you cannot tell it was not a white car from the factory. I have receipts for the paint job in the upper $15. 00 range. The entire car was taken down to bare metal and the glass came out. The car was prepped incredibly well and went though more stages than I can count. The result was an amazing looking show-quality 964 paint job and pictures do not do justice. All the rubbers seals and trim pieces/hardware were replaced to make the outside look nearly brand new. I opted for genuine RUF front and rear badges along with a RUF front lip. The job was photo documented by the restoration shop. Clear marker lights were installed along with RS front inlets. There is no rust either. All stickers were replaced to make the paint job correct (Door Jam stickers. engine. fuel. etc. ). The rear spoiler is a Genuine Porsche 930 whale tail. The rubber is in near excellent condition and base seal is new. The base has a crack in the paint on the top pass. side. While the paint restoration was in progress. new Bilstein HD shocks and struts were installed on all four corners with Eibach coil springs. The 17-inch RUF wheels were completely refinished and painted to match the car. New Bridgestone S-04 Pole Position tires were installed afterwards. Bob Farmer in Indianapolis. Indiana set the car to level and rack-aligned. so it tracks straight as an arrow. All suspension bushings are in good shape. Genuine Porsche brake pads were installed along with cross drilled/slotted rotors on all four corners. New brake shoes were installed as well. Calipers are all in good shape. as are lines. Brake Fluid was flushed at time of install. The handbrake may need adjusted again. Also. during the paint job. the interior was stripped down to the dashboard. New RS carpet was installed along with a genuine leather headliner. The seats and dash are in great shape and original. The seats are heated. supple leather. 8-way adjustable from the factory. The sunroof was serviced by Bob Farmer and functions as it should. The rear seat deck was refinished by the same professional who installed the headliner and did a wonderful job—it looks brand new. A Kenwood radio/Ipod unit was installed. It connects to Pandora Radio as well. I picked this particular head unit because when the car is off. it’s completely black and blends in with the dash. It does not look cheap like many of the aftermarket head units on the market nor stands out. New door seals and thresholds were installed. Billet aluminum black 911 script door handles replaced the flimsy stock plastic handles. Polk speakers were put in some time ago throughout the car and they sound good. Original door cards are in great shape. Driver’s side window just got new seal on regulator. To ad a nice touch to the interior. I installed RUF pedals. I have a set of new RUF mats as well if the buyer is interested. After the exterior and interior refresh. the car visited Bob Farmer to get the engine checked again for health and fulfill the PPI requests; a full tune up with new plugs. wires. fuel filter. and Fabspeed intake box with new K+N filter. Also. the valves were adjusted and the valve cover seals were replaced. Bob did a Brad Penn oil change at time of valves. The engine runs strong and Bob said it does not need a rebuild either. The transmission and differential was also serviced with synthetic oil and are solid with no issues. The clutch is strong and works as it should. The exhaust system has a Dansk Cup pipe and it sounds great without any crackle—not too loud. The secondary muffler is still mounted. Porsche said I needed new CV joint boots. Bob Farmer said I did not. I have them to give to the new owner for when they are needed along with output shaft seals. This particular 964 is not flawless. Bob Farmer’s Bosch Hammer was broken and could not delete the code faults when it was there. so it still has the codes stored from the work performed. I haven’t the ability to get the car to the dealer. or other mechanic. because I am states away from the car. Bob Farmer reassured me several times there is nothing wrong mechanically and these lights are prone to coming on. If you do not believe me. call him and ask. Also. the power steering pump is leaking through the faulty factory neoprene bushings and the engine has an incredibly small leak as well. I do not notice any spots on the floor though even after several weeks of sitting. To my knowledge. the AC does not work. I haven’t tried anything with it. It may just need a recharge. Headliner on the sunroof still needs recovered. It was not done at time because it needed serviced. I have the leather for it. There are very little things here and there as well. but they are nothing major and I have car priced accordingly. Here is a full option list directly from the Authenticity Report for the interested: Production date completed: 11/30/89. -Heated Seats- L/R -Heavy duty Windshield Cleaning -Headlight Washers -Full Power Seats- L/R -Supple Leather Seats -Blaupunkt Radio ‘Reno’ -Cruise Control (works great) -Blaupunkt Amplifier System -Electric Sliding Sunroof -US Standard Emissions -Goodyear Tires -Power windows (all had them except RSs (I belive?)) I know I have forgotten many parts installed. but when so much work is done in a year. you are liable to forget. but I have all receipts to prove the work. With the imperfections. this 911 is still a great car to drive and the new owner will be coming out on top with this car. I know I could drive it anywhere without any worry. The title IS clean despite the accident and in my hand. I have the Porsche Authenticity report. tens of thousands in receipts. original owner’s manual. and extra (valet) key for the new owner. Someone is going to get a great car for not a lot of money compared to the other fine examples on here (and what I have in it). I have driven the car only 150 miles since all the work has been done and it runs great! So. all the parts installed and the oil is ready to go for years to come! I hate to sell this 964. Any questions please shoot me a message prior to bidding. I’ve been a Porsche guy and active in the PCA since age 17. I’ve had many Porsche and know a lot about them. and their quirks. If you would like to talk on the phone. let me know and I can call you. or give you my number. I am very honest and I will do by best to answer all questions to the best of my knowledge. I strongly encourage serious potential buyers to come drive the car prior to buying. No test drives for fun. funds must be available to drive. Car is available by appointment anytime. I do not have a buy it now. but am open to honest offers. The restoration shop is available if anyone want more in depth explanation of paint process. and I am sure Bob Farmer would not mind talking to anyone about the car. If I do not get my price. I will gladly keep this car. because it’s worth holding on to. The car is sold as is. where is with NO warranties of any kind implied. Good Luck and happy bidding!
