Description

Presenting a 1977 Porsche 911S Targa in excellent condition This car was beautifully painted in 1991 to the remarkable Porsche Continental Orange color. The paint presents well from any distance. This is not the original color. but this color was offered for this car in 1977. The re-paint involved a complete glass-out. engine-out process. and the result is a stunningly clear and clean finish. even in the engine and trunk compartments. and door jambs. Most of the body rubber on the car appears new or is new. There are a few small paint chips that were quoted at approximately $200-$300 to professionally repair. The body is super straight except for one shallow and not very noticeable dent on the driver’s side cowl just below the windshield (see pics). The Targa top was completely and professionally restored in 2013. with the period correct German vinyl. by Targa top expert Dan Petchel. at a cost of $1. 75. This car is vin number 9117212427 and it has engine number 6274833 which is a 1977 911 engine and believed to be numbers matching. Mileage showing is 67. 25. There is no paper trail to document the miles; however. the previous seller. who is a collector of fine Porsche’s. represented the mileage as accurate. This engine has had all of the appropriate upgrades including Carrera tensioners and valve covers. pop off valve in the air box. 11-blade fan (Porsche). and beautiful stainless steel heat exchangers ($$$). The smog equipment (air injection and thermal reactors) has been deleted. The engine runs great. and compression is good at 150. 155. 155. 145. 150. and 145. Other significant recent work (last 2 years) includes new master cylinder and brake lines. new battery and cable. Carrera turbo style tie-rods and boots. rear axle CV boots. rear sway bar bracket seats and bushings. I have an online photo album with over 150 pictures of this car and around 50 of the bottom with the car on a lift. I cant figure out how to add a clickable link but you may be able to cut and paste this link below into your browser to access the additional pictures. If not please contact me and I'm happy to send you a link to that photo album. picasaweb. google. com/104384934603815286934/Orange77911?authkey=Gv1sRgCOnIrvbTranfjgE It appears that everything works except the clock and the interior heater blower. Regardless. the heat and the defroster function very well. and there seems to be no loss of heater function without the blower. By the way a blower was never a feature until 1974. According to the mechanic. the small amount of oil that the engine leaks is within the normal range for this engine. at about 1-2 drops a day. The front brake pads are at 10%. The original cork colored interior is in great condition. there is a small crack in the dash near the heater vent on the passenger side (see pics). The front seats have been recovered. All of the bright trim (chrome and anodized aluminum) is in great shape. The 4 fuchs alloy wheels are very good with no curb rash or damage and the tires are in great shape. 1977 Porsche 911’s have completely galvanized and rust resistant bodies. This car appears to be totally rust free except for some rust damage under the battery from battery acid. The bad metal was cut out and repaired. most of this repair is under the battery (see pics).
