1971 Porsche 911T Hotrod Targa Design Originally I purchased this car with a vision to create a drivable work of art which I could enjoy and work on over time. Roughly 11 years ago I sought out a clean original early 911t which needed a restoration, ut would not be hurt by modifying it from the original equipment. Part of my criteria was a clean little rust body, model targa in Viper Green, ight Yellow or Gulf Blue. This particular car is from California originally and had very little to no rust at all and is light yellow. I purchased it as a running roller, eaning it had all the body panels a motor/transmission, ut little else. All of the original interior and trim were not present on the vehicle when I acquired it. Since then I have rebuilt everything on the car except the long block engine. My goal was to make a modern interpretation of an early 911 similar to a Singer which could be driven any time you turn the key, nd functioned like new. Why am I selling? 11 years is a long time and life changes. When I purchased this car I had no children was functionally single and lots of space to store vehicles. Over the years I met the woman of my dreams, ade some kids and got more practical on the living quarters. In the entire time I have owned this 911 I have put less than 3,000 miles on the car. So unfortunately it doesn’t get a lot of use. Now that my life has a 2 year old in it the priority to get behind the wheel of this car is even further from my mind than ever. So for the last 3 years I have toyed with selling it and after much debate I have decided it is time to part ways with this car so someone else can enjoy it. What was done to the body of the car? The body of the car has been modified. All the external trim has been shaved, o all trim holes were welded shut and shaved over. The rear fenders were flared with fiberglass RS replica flares. At the time I did the body work steel RS flares were out of production and hard to acquire. Since then this has drastically changed and metal RS flares are available again from Porsche and the aftermarket. All other panels on the car are original metal, ut I do have a fiberglass ductail I will include in the sale as well. Pictures of the car with and without the tail are posted. All of the turn signal lens have been replaced. The original headlights were backdated to 1967 911 lenses, ut with HID balasts and projectors. Unlike the original 911 headlights, hese work and allow driving at night safely. Not to mention they look a little better. How are the mechanicals? The suspension was all rebuilt with either NOS or new parts. New Boge struts/shocks were sourced for all four corners. Turbo torsion bars in the rear were installed and a S front sway bar was installed in the front. Bushings were replaced with Neatrix when possible. After everything was installed it was lowered to Euro specs and corner balanced. Wet weight is about 2200lbs. The transmission was rebuilt because the original ring and pinion were damaged. An original ring and pinion was located and at the time of installation syncros for 1-3 gears were replaced. The dog teeth on 2-3 and 3-4 were serviced and repointed. Last a short shift kit was installed and all shift bushings were replaced. The drive axles were rebuilt shortly before I bought the car. All wheel bearings were replaced. The engine was rebuilt before I purchased the vehicle and I have the documentation on that build. However the carbs and distributor were never in good working order. The carbs and ignition were replaced by an electronic EFI megasquirt conversion with ITBs. It has been tuned and runs great. Every time the key is turned the car starts and runs. I can provide some documentation to the new owner to install the megasquirt software for future diagnostics and tuning. Please contact me for questions regarding this subject and I will be happy to elaborate on a phone conversation. Brakes were replaced last year with Boxster calipers in the front and Carrera calipers in the rear. I will include the original calipers and rotors, ut the car stops much better now and like the injection it is much more functional. Wheels are 16x7,8 original Fuchs from a Turbo 911. They have been finished as RSR replicas. Tires are Yokohama AVS sized 205F/225R Interior changes. Since I never had an interior I have had to build it from scratch. The door panels are RS replica as is the carpet from AppBiz. All the gauges have been cleaned and if not functional sent out to Hollywood Speedometer for service. Seats are Recaro LS from a VW Jetta GLI refinished to match the door panels and other trim. Steering wheel and shifter knob are from Momo. Seat belts were installed and the rear seats were carpeted over. The targa top is in original condition, ut overall good shape. The side seals need to be replaced, ut the front and rear have been replaced. The headliner is in decent shape and the top material is still in good shape. I usually drive the car with the top off, o most of it’s life it has only been used when the car is stationary. Problems or concerns. This is over 40 years old car so it is not perfect. Most of the work was done on this car 7-8 years ago so it has some wear from just age and sitting around. The paint has some small imperfections, hips and scratches.I have pictures of all the paint imperfections. There is a stone chip on the hood, uble on left front fender and chip on right rear lower bumper. Overall the body is probably an 8 out of 10. Since the car doesn’t get driven a lot it will smoke on first startup, ut after it is driven for a couple of hours it will not do that anymore. This is normal behavior for an early 911 engine that sits a lot. The windshield washers are not present and the license plate lights are missing. They were removed when I put on the duck tail and I just have not put them back on. Last would be it does leak a little oil when sitting for a while. The copper seals on the oil tank lines need to be replaced next time they are taken apart. That is about it on the list of problems.
