This is a very nice restoration by a gentleman who’s a 40-year PCA member and nationally known vintage Porsche racer. He has owned over 100 Porsches during his lifetime and knows 911s inside-out. He restored this car to keep for the remainder of his life, ut then his wife spotted a vacation home by a lake and his priorities transitioned to home furnishings overnight. As you know, hese mid-year cars were out of favor in the marketplace at one time, ut he knew of and rectified all of their weak areas (oil-fed timing chain tensioners, tc.) due to his extensive experience owning and driving/racing them.Original miles, rior to the restoration, ere indicated as approx. 48K miles. Original number-matching engine, s per COA. The original engine’s case was split and sent to Ollie’s in AZ, ecked and line bored, nd the engine was rebuilt with all high-end parts (Timeserts, aceware studs, tc.). The 915 transaxle was rebuilt by a nationally known “guru” who lectures on the subject at national PCA events. New aluminum clutch pressure plate. 15” x 7” Fuchs in front, ” in rear. New Hankook Ventus R-S3 ZR-rated tires. New Bosch H4 headlights. The car has a fresh (maybe a half dozen starts on it) AGM Die Hard battery with 800 CCA (always on a trickle charger). Rebuilt original brakes in front, ebuilt brakes from a 3.2L Carrera in rear (slightly larger). Torsion bars are 22 front and 27 rear. He incorporated a dual-fan oil cooler so the car could be driven across the Mohave Desert, n theory—to add this feature, owever, e had to sacrifice the rear window defroster switch. But he felt adequate engine cooling was more important. Dual underside tow points, ront and rear (in case he decided to autocross). New Bilstein shocks. All new bushings. Windshield replaced, ll other glass is original. Original whale tail. Color change during the restoration (base coat/clear coat) to Grand Prix White as he admired it as an iconic racing color scheme with the blue trim. I have not noticed a single scratch or blemish in the paint to this point in time. The troublesome original exhaust/emission equipment (e.g., hermal reactors, GR) is gone, nd car now has new SSIs. He incorporated a few personal-preference mods during the restoration, ncluding the ROW/Euro narrow rear bumpers, S door panels, tc. Dynamat insulation installed under carpeting during restoration for sound lessening. The dash is from a later car due to deterioration of the original, ut it has the larger center vent that provides better flow-through ventilation. Gauges are original, o my knowledge, ut are in good, perable and aesthetic condition. New interior leather Recaro sport seats, arpet, S-style door panels, -steering wheel, tc. Very nice headliner with the original rear zipper feature, ut he eliminated the headliner interior lights (now only has light near glove compartment). Sun visors were also replaced as the originals become very puffy and saggy through the years.Available documents related to the car will be provided via photos. The restoration was completed around Dec. 2013. The car (engine and transaxle) has break-in miles only (less than 100 mi.).
