1968 Porsche 911 Karmann Coupe. Irish Green (currently white) with Beige Leatherette interior. Fuchs wheels. Non-matching engine. This is a rare color car and a unique restoration project, ince there were only 742 Karmann Coupes made that year, This is car #86 of 742 and it is the last year for the Short Wheel-base.
I purchased this car in the spring of 2014 on eBay. The car had been sitting in storage for a long time. The seller was an agent for the owner and did not provide much history of any substance. Since I had planned on a full restoration, didn't think much about it. I had made arrangements with my wonderful restoration guys ( Bob and Curt at C.A.R.S. who have restored several 911s for me) to put it on their schedule. However, nd purely by accident, ran across a 1968 911S and we decided to move forward with the full restoration of that car instead. Therefore, his car has not been touched since its arrival.
The car is need of restoration. The rust on the body is all surface level and will come off easily. However, t needs new floors since they are pretty much gone. The engine and transmission have not been functional and will need attention. The car has not been driven while in my possession. Unfortunately, do not have a way of showing the under-body but assume you will encounter rust and will need new floors.
I am a long term PCA member and own a small collection of early 911s and 356s. The thought of an Irish Green, hort Wheel-base car was very appealing to me. I had visions of building a stock looking Hot rod. but unfortunately, can't have it all, nd need the money to fund the restoration of the 68 S.
For those interested, have a 95% rust-free 1968 912 Roller( pictured in front of the 911) which we were planning on potentially using as a parts/ donor car. The 912 body has been Media blasted and needs a couple of patches on the passenger foot well and the rear seat area. Otherwise, ery solid. The Roller can be purchased separately and at additional cost. Please call if interested.
I would highly recommend you do extensive research before bidding. This is a restoration project. It will be beautiful when its done. But, am not a mechanic, nd don't have technical knowledge. So, lease know that you are buying the car as is and where is with no warranties expressed or implied. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer.
I require a $1,000 deposit through PayPal. For the balance, ou have a choice of using wire transfer or a Cashiers check. However, he car can only be picked up after the full payment has cleared. Please don't hesitate to call me with questions 402-939-3802.
