The black paint remains very attractive with very few flaws other than the typical small rock chips on the hood. There are no door dings on the side panels. The flex material of the nose and rear are both nice. There is some characteristic curb rash under the nose as a result of the cars low front end but it is all out of sight to a standing observer and in no way affects the functionality of the front spoiler. All four premium alloy wheels are beautiful with no curb rash whatsoever. The premium Michelin tires have very good remaining tread. All glass and light lenses are excellent. The underside remains "California clean", otally free from rust and any accumulation of oil or grease. The all black interior shows beautifully. The leather seats, arpeting, ash pad, nd door panels are all excellent. The front luggage compartment is neat and the engine compartment is remarkably clean. DRIVABILITY We have had the pleasure of experiencing Porsches for more years than we care to admit. However, ach time we receive a new Porsche, ell, t's a good day. Unquestionably, he cars have changed significantly over the years yet the rear engine / rear drive layout works, nd works very well, ndeed. Those who are not familiar with recent Porsche cars may question the reason for Porsche's ongoing success. After all, n a world filled with front wheel drive, lectric and Hybrid vehicles the 911 the Porsche continues to have the engine in the "wrong place", staggering cost new, nd somewhat idiosyncratic styling, he 911 remains a niche car in a very small but strong niche. Those who experience modern Porsches for the first time may be in for a surprise. The current cars are practical, omfortable, listeringly fast, asy to drive, xcellent handling, bsolutely capable of doing the daily humdrum or exhilarating with a blast through the twisty bits. They have, s the old saying goes "Come a long way, aby." In the case of this 2006 Porsche C2S, he first thing that we notice (and love!) is the styling of the Cab. The wide rear fenders, ower stance and wide wheels front and rear give the car an aggressive appearance that was lacking in earlier 911 models. This particular C2S enjoys the extra benefit of very high quality HRE wheels that have been designed for this application. The anthracite wheel centers, olished outer lips and multi-colored crests are striking against the high gloss ebony exterior. However, he best part is yet to come. A turn of the traditional left side mounted ignition and the car comes to life with a rumble from the dual exhaust. Once underway, he steering wheel controls for the manual shifting of the Tiptronic gearbox are obvious so, t about 60 MPH, e drop down a few gears and accelerate hard. The torque of the 355 hp engine kicks in and plants our back firmly into the rear backrest. As the car shifts gears we run out of straight road and the speedometer needle has quickly climbed to 3 digits. In order to keep our perfect driving record intact, e apply the brakes that bring the car down to the posted speed limit. There is little doubt that the reported figures of 0-60 mph in just over 4 seconds and a top speed of over 180 mph are accurate. Our drive back to the office is more relaxed and we have an opportunity to enjoy the creature comforts of the Porsche. We can't help but notice the compliant ride, omfortable leather seating with infinitely adjustability, uality Bose sound system and classic simple but functional appointments. The Carrera offers the benefits of comfort without sacrificing tremendous performance and tremendous handling. Truly the best of both (all) worlds. TESTIMONIALS "Still the quintessential sports car after four decades, he 2006 Porsche 911 has a unique blend of style, erformance and sound that's unmatched by anything on the road. Pros: pinpoint steering, ffortless acceleration, we-inspiring brakes, he rhythmic sound of a powerful flat six, nd a comfortable cockpit." Edmunds.com "Among sports cars, orsche's safety, eliability, nd build quality are incomparable." Motor Trend Magazine "The engineering changes (in the 997) yield what feels like a whole new 911. There have been a large number of models since the first officially designated 911 appeared in 1965. The basic shape hasn't changed radically to this day, or has the rear-engined layout, lthough there have been significant developments along the way. Key milestones in 911 development include the 1972 Carrera RS model (still viewed by some as the definitive 911), he launch in 1974 of the first turbocharged model, he arrival of all-wheel drive variants in 1989 and the introduction of water cooling rather than air cooling in 1997. The model that ushered in this change was the 996 generation (latter day Porsche models having a three number 'code' to denote their model type). The Porsche 997 is the project code for all models belonging to the sixth generation of 911's built from 2004 until 2012. The transition from the Porsche 911 into Type 997 was more evolutionary than revolutionary, s it was with its predecessor the 996. The exterior underwent a redesign bringing back some of the styling elements of the old classic 911's last seen on the 993. The most prominent features are the return of classic circular headlights (instead of the fried egg headlights of the 996) and the typical waist at the rear of the car. Although the rest of the car design wasn't changed that obviously, he 996 and the 997 shared only the same roof panel. The 997 interior was completely redesigned with the most prominent changes including a redesigned instrument cluster, teering wheel, oor panels and seats. The 997 is powered by either a water cooled 3.6 liter power plant that develops 325bhp @ 6800rpm or, n the S version, new 3.8 liter engine delivering 355 bhp @ 6600rpm. The Carrera 2 is rear-wheel drive and the Carrera 4 is all-wheel drive. The 997 redesign was greatly appreciated by enthusiasts all around the world who also supported the clear distinction between the "independent" 997 911 and the 987 (C) Boxster / Carrera model. Porsches conservative power politics combined with their slightly increased weight caused some criticism among enthusiasts as the new models did not improve in performance compared to the 996 while other sports car manufacturers "armed" their new models with more hp with each evolution (e.g. BMW M3 or Audi S4). The critics forgot that a Porsche has always been very fast even if seeming to be a bit underpowered on paper.
