Hello 944 enthusiast, orsche lovers and possibly soon to be Porsche owners! This car is fun to drive! This model has the upgraded suspension, he prior owner changed out the front struts with an after market brand andI followed suit with KYB, owever it has the larger sway bars, t was a factory option. I have tons of extra parts and things which can come in handy and an extraset of BBS style wheelswhich I was going to use for my track tires. I intended for this to be an SCCA race car when I bought it but it just became my daily driver. I get complimentsevery time I drive it, ts kind of iconic and super fun. I love this car, ut I am being stationed overseas and can only bring one vehicle with the family. It has a new timing belt / water pump / balance belt, ront engine seals job just accomplished. This is the run down on the vehicle by section. After that is my maintenancelog.
Exterior: Paint -- She is a 20/20 car, hich means going 20 miles and hour 20 feet away she looks great, ut there are blemishes io the car, ee pictures and ask questions. The only body damage is behind the drivers rear wheel, revious owner must have swiped something, ut it never looked bad so I left it alone. The front spoiler - has beenrubbed and repairs have been made, t has color match paint on the front spoiler, ut it was done with rattle can color match and clear -- not a professional job, ut looks fine. Thereare scratches and chips on the sunroof. Some other minor dents and scratches around the car. Normal stuff for a daily driver -- for 30 years.
Interior: Seats have Porsche covers on them, he seats have sometears underneath. It came with the covers, never took them off. They look pretty good actually, ave Porsche embroidered on them. Backseat is pretty flawless. The carpet in the trunk area has some tears on one side, he hatch sometimes stays open on its own with the hydraulic struts but not always. The dashboard has cracks, never bothered meenough to fix.Everything else is good, ots of new switches and dials. Has an Alpinetape deck.
Engine: See log, he top of the engine is pretty new really and so are a lot of the subsystems.I rebuilt the entire top end and had the head professionally serviced and checked, t hasnever overheated on me. Itruns smooth, ne of the motor mounts was replaced by the previous owner. It idles well, il pressure is good high on startand low when warmed up at idle, uns around the 3-4 mark during highway driving -- normal. Cooling system is good, ools well. It burns clean, ooil, gas mileage is good.I redid all of the engine front seals, here was a leak and it was time for the Timing Belt/Water pump change interval so the leaks disappeared. The catalytic convertor is a universal replacement and was installed with clamps and sealant not welded, ust haven't gotten to it yet.
Transaxle: Shifts good, o issues, lutch pedal feels good. Seals are all good and fluid is pretty new, ee log. Has the standardand from what I can tell original transmission. I was always planning on if it went out to replace it with a $600 used one from a Turbo model, hey have better gear ratios and a oil cooler.
Tires: 3 years old, eing conservative I'd say half way through their tread life but really there are in good condition.
Brakes: Stops good, o issues there, lenty of pad life left, otors are not warped or anything.
Electronics: Passanger power windows are touchy, ometimes only works with driver side control. The passanger side mirroris new, ut itonly moves via motor up and down wont move via motor left or right, omebody messed with it when it was parkedat the airport for a week and cracked the mirror, replaced that.
Sub-Systems/Accessories: One of the sunroof clips is broken, ut you can use it just fine and remove it too for that awesome 80s look. I only have one set of keys, nd the key does not work on the passenger side door -- needs to be rekeyed. It can be locked/unlocked from the inside. The rear hatch opens and closed just fine, nd the automatic motor that opens it works just fine, ut the motor does not open it when the button is press from the drivers console. It may have to do with the weak struts.
