PORSCHE 911 SC RARE JEWEL WITH STAINLESS STEEL TARGA ROOF

This vehicle is an original issue free excellent example of a Porsche 911 SC (Super Carrera). These air cooled Porsches are climbing in value yearly and are sought by discerning collectors. Excellent investments!

I had recently sold an almost identical (same color Targa but with a rear wing). The current car was a project because the engine had an issue with a valve. Of course once the engine was out, I decided to have the heads put to spec and then, since all the mechanical parts were exposed, I went one step further and had the motor dismantled completely and rebuilt with new parts. I did this because I intended to keep it for alongtime. Unfortunately, at 71 years old I lost my consulting employment and now, for financial reasons, I must sell off this last piece in my collection.

The car is in excellent condition with perfect blemish-free paint-no scratches, dings, stone chips or excuses. The body is as straight as a pin and has not been modified. The color does look much better than in the pictures. It is rich looking hue of a blend of gold and bronze.

The Targa hoop is stainless steel as the original model. I can include the black version but the stainless one is striking. The headlights have the European lights and the covers are chrome.

Most important is that there is NO RUST whatsoever and no part of the car shows any suspicion of rust and this includes the body joints, floor pans, underneath and under moldings. The car was garaged and only used on rain free days during summer months before the engine rebuild. This accounts for the low mileage.

All glass and trim is perfect-no scratches or wear. The electric windows run well. The mirrors are also electrically controlled.

The Targa top is in great condition. The headliner is impeccable. The original ones are hard to find in this condition.

The interior and leather seats are in anexcellentcondition. No excuses --without a single scratch, tearor mark. This is rare but there are absolutely no marks on the bolster. The seats had been covered. Both seats have electrical adjustments.

The dash, door panels and rear deck are excellent. There are no cracks or sun damage.

The carpets are new and installed while the engine was being upgraded.

The car is equipped with air conditioning equipment (radiator, all hoses etc) except for the compressor.

The wheels are original factory Fuchs. They are as new. The chrome/silver part of each wheel is excellent. The wheels and tires give the car a solid squat stance without losing the original look.

The gift to the buyer is that the engine was completely rebuilt—all new bearings, rings, seals, valve guides etc etc. Of course the clutch was also replaced. The buyer will have the certitude that his engine is in excellent condition without surprises. This is worth the price of admission!

The engine now has the upgraded and highly recommended Carrera oil fed hydraulic chain tensioners.

The transmission is the stock 5 speed manual in perfect condition. It shifts well and smoothly with no issues or crunch when put into its gears. There is no hesitation when engaging first gear.

In conclusion, this is a superior example of what a Porsche SC is all about. The 3.0L engine is described as the most reliable of the air cooled engines. This example does all that it was designed for-it runs straight, handles like a Porsche and brakes perfectly. There is nothing to be done to improve it except to keep it clean. The purchaser may choose to acquire a compressor and complete the a/c .
