Original, matching numbers 1963 356B with Certificate of Authenticity. Production completion date of 02/07/63. Very desirable and rare original exterior color of slate grey and interior color green.
After sitting for many years a new fuel tank was installed, steel fuel lines were flushed/cleaned, all rubber fuel lines replaced, carbs re-built, ignition tune up and oil change. Engines runs remarkably well and idles nicely at 900 rpms. Was able to drive it along side roads near our shop: pulls nicely andshifts smoothly. Valves have not been adjusted and should be checked. See video of engine running at dropbox link below. There is an oil leak from the rear main seal, but otherwisevery little oil leaking from other locations. Brakes have been bled, but are still a little spongy. It appears that a fair bit of work: brakes, exhaust, oil lines weredone probably many years ago(12-15?) and then the car sat stored away.It was also during this time that many new parts were accumulated- please see images. Really nice interior components, seats, german weave carpet set, vinyl panels, chrome elements, headliner etc. Seems like almost all major components there for the interior. Car has the original date coded steel wheels included spare rim. All parts shown in images go with the car.
An interesting feature demonstrating the originality of this car is the windshield- it still has a sticker on the drivers side lower corner with the word "Schaltschema" above a shift pattern diagram.
It has had rudimentary body work done and there is rust on the original car as well as on some of the replaced parts such as the floors. Please see imagesat dropbox link listed here. I've tried to show as many perspectives of the car as possible. A local well-know 356 body man looked at the car and remarked on how good the nose and rear end are, not having suffered any hits and being in significantly original condition. It is an excellent candidate for complete restoration, but could also, withnew floors and some additional metal work and fair bit of odds and ends be a cool patina'd driver.
