Description

2003-BOXSTER S-Very Nice condition with one owner for over 12 years. Engine was replaced (documented by Porsche Service Manager) with a 2004 Porsche factory re-manufactured unit just 35,000 miles ago. The car runs very strong and, as an "S" has the benefit of a 6 speed and optional 18" alloy 911 wheels. The Boxster "S" does not show the typical front or rear bumper "rash" nor does it have any indication of previous or present body damage. There are a few minor scrapes on the outer edge of the wheels as is characteristic with a vehicle of this vintage. The paint job has some minor paint rubs from car cover. A truly lovely, high performance "S" with documented repair history, recent mechanical upgrades and wonderful drivability.

HISTORY

After manufacture in February 2003 in Finland, the car was sold in August to the first Northern California owner by Sonnen Porsche in Mill Valley, California. Four years ago, there was a problem with the original engine and Porsche installed a proper, factory re-manufactured 2004 engine (see the numbers section below for details). This engine now has approximately 43,228 miles. The original owner drove the car until 2014, putting on about 104K miles. It was then sold, again by Sonnen Porsche, to the second Northern California owner who kept it 1 year, putting on an additional 8K miles. Nearly $6,000 of maintenance was performed on the car during 2014. I am the third owner and purchased the car in 9/2015 with 112,556 miles and have driven it 8,444 miles since this is my “fun” 2nd car/weekend ride. I live in Nevada and California and this car has always been under car tarp or garage in California. The car’s remanufactured engine has less than 44,000 miles.

DRIVABILITY

The car is an incredible drive with pretty amazing “zip” and corners as if glued to the road curves. It is just fun to drive. The only reason for the sale of the Boxster S is that I am upgrading to a 911S- AWD.

With the 6-cylinder engine and 6-speed transmission it offers great performance and the handling is excellent due to the cars mid-engine configuration (some proponents of the Boxster say better handling than that of a 911). The braking is excellent and tight, the steering is tight, the tracking is true, and the clutch and transmission are smooth. The operating temperature remained well within acceptable limits despite temperatures approaching 100 degrees and the cars oil pressure and other vital signs are excellent and show no signs of problems. The cars independent mechanical inspection by Frank’s Automotive (highly rate Porsche mechanics in Sacramento, Ca) supported the functional lights, excellent tires, brakes and the overall quality of the Porsche.

This car is meant to be driven and I unfortunately, due to projects outside of my home base, was not able to drive the car as often as I wished.

Good luck on the auction and thanks for taking time to read info about my Porsche Boxster S.
