Like a very rare automotive gem that we picked up from our own backyard, MotoeXotica Classic Cars is thrilled to present this 1967 Porsche 912 short-wheelbase coupe. Quality Porsche 912’s like this one are becoming more and more collectible and excellent examples have become close to impossible to come by in recent years. These cars prove popular with many true enthusiasts who never viewed them as future collectibles compared to their 911 big brother, but all of that has changed in todays market and all the quality examples are selling very fast! The best part of this particular 912 is the way it presents itself in person with the gorgeous silver metallic paint that is matched perfectly with the red and black interior, it receives all kinds of positive attention even with the non car people anywhere it goes!

This very clean example from arid Arizona was built on January 19, 1967 at Porsche’s Zuffenhausen factory and came with the following options: vented chrome wheels (still on the car), noise suppression for radio antenna, a loudspeaker and Goodyear tires. The car received a full quality restoration performed in Arizona in 2007 that still presents itself very well today and a full mechanical restoration in 2010 by one of the best Porsche mechanics in the Midwest.

The car presents very well with its handsome metallic silver paint, which is lustrous and deep. All of the windows are in great shape, with no pits, cracks or haze present. All of the lights are intact, including the sought-after and reportedly rare H1 headlights. Plus, the bumpers are in overall excellent shape. The car rolls on Widetrack radials, sized 165R15, and surround date correct Porsche vented chrome wheels that shimmer in the light. All of the body panels are straight and are in great shape. The car’s period correct 1600 cc air-cooled, flat four-cylinder engine is extremely clean and tidy and has correct parts. Everything works on this car and it drives excellent, make sure to watch the video to see how well this 912 scoots right along the curvy back roads.

Inside, the red leather interior is eye-catching and stunning, with its front bucket seats and rear demi-buckets. The dash has been upgraded to include the 911 wood inserts. The seats are in very good condition, with only some minor wear marks visible on the driver’s side. The black carpet is in overall good shape, as are the headliner, dashboard, steering wheel, shifter, door panels and mirrors. In the dash is an Alpine AM/FM stereo with CD and MP3 ability paired with a pair of Boston Acoustics full range floor speakers. Car has a five-gauge instrument panel and functional and desirable European heating system. The rear seat folds down and the rear quarter windows open outward for ventilation.

This Porsche 912 drives and performs excellent in result from recent work from Reid Vann, one of the best known vintage Porsche specialists in the Midwest, who actually bought the car from one of his customers in Arizona. He then sold it in September 2010 and the new owner had more than $13K of work performed between October 2010 and December 2011. Major work comprised the following – engine tested for cylinder compression and leakdown, removed and replaced the engine, replaced cylinder head for valve job, reconditioned new heads and replaced valve guides and valves, rebuilt carburetors, followed by installing rebuilt, original Solex carburetors, rebuilt front and rear brake calipers and replaced the front and rear brake pads. Other repair work included:

Adjusted R carburetor, corrected vacuum leaks Corrected ignition, headlight wiring Passenger seat outer hinge gears replaced Removed and replaced the horns, wiper blades Adjusted locks for trunk and hood, shifter Valve adjustment Reset ignition timing Replace right outer door handle Install rebuilt Solex carburetors Replaced muffler Repaired front passenger seat cushion Brake fluid flush Removed, cleaned and painted brake pedal assembly

The Porsche 912 is a sports car that was manufactured between 1965 and 1969 as the entry-level model. A nimble compact performance four-seater, the 912 delivered 90 horsepower at 5800 rpm. It was capable of up to 30 miles per US gallon fuel economy because of a high-efficiency engine, low weight and low drag. A variant of the Type 911, one of the most famous and successful sports cars of all time, the Type 912 initially outsold the 911, boosting the manufacturer’s total production until success of the 911 was assured. Porsche built more than 32,000 of the Type 912 from April 1965 to July 1969.

Current mileage on the odometer shows 67,008 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
