Furthermore. it is the last of the air-cooled generation and benefitted from some of Porsches most developed race engine technology of that era. There were only 1. 00 examples imported to the U. S. in 1996 and 1997 making these one of the lower production Turbos ever offered by Porsche. This combination has made these Porsches some of the most collectible that are less than 25-years old. Just imagine what the values of these will be when they reach 40-years old. Don’t get fooled by low mileage cars or cars that “don’t need anything. ” I’ve dealt with these cars long enough to know that they ALL require serious maintenance. I really consider this twin turbo one of the best values on the market. In the end of the day. do you really want to plop down $175k++ for a garage queen that you are afraid to drive and enjoy? Each time you take it out of the garage. you can feel the car’s value dropping…yikes! This example provides guilt-free motoring. This car is really the perfect car for those of you who want a reliable and mechanically sound twin turbo that looks stunning at a great value price. It was serviced regularly by Porsche dealers from new to 2006 and the maintenance book has all the stamps to prove it. The previous SoCal owner purchased this Porsche in early 2007 with 57. 00 miles on the clock. He bought it from Willhoit Enterprises: a well-known Porsche independent dealer in Springfield. Missouri. A thorough pre-purchase inspection was performed at the local Authorized Porsche Dealership and the service manager made a note: “this is a great car!” When the car was delivered to Southern California. the owner immediately took the car to Hergesheimer Motorsports: a well-respected independent Porsche repair specialists in Orange County. Another full inspection was performed and they too gave the car a big thumbs up. Compression was even and good across all the cylinders and there were no fault codes. The secondary smog injection was operating great and none of the nagging problems that can plague these cars seemed present. They inspected the turbos carefully and reported that they suspected that they had recent been rebuilt as well. They were really surprised how strong the car accelerated. For the next four years and 7. 00 miles. the previous owner did nothing less than pamper this car like it was his own offspring. All services were performed by Hergesheimer. Besides the normal regular oil changes (Mobil 1 only). the following services were performed: New clutchNew cylinder #3 sensorNew valve cover gasketsThrottle cable adjustmentNew O-rings on right turboNew front control arm bushingsNew belt tensioner sensor This car has been incredibly reliable. On June. 6th. 2011. this SoCal enthusiast sold the car to another local enthusiast who is known for his incredible collection of vintage Porsches. He bought the car for him and his wife to enjoy on local weekend jaunts. These current owners are absolutely meticulous with their cars and every single one is in pristine cosmetic and running condition. The following very tasteful and desirable modifications were installed over the years: FVD muffler bypass pipes (original stock mufflers are available as well)H&R Sport springs with Bilstein HD shocks996 oil return valvesUpgraded factory turbo hoses (orange tip)Lightweight flywheelGT3 ClutchChris Wallrod suspension bushingsLloyd floor mats Finally. this turbo was nicely equipped from the factory with the following: Dual Power SeatsLitronic/Xenon headlightsElectric sunroofRear window wiperOn board computerCruise controlRadio cd CDR210 The condition of this Turbo is excellent. The paint looks fantastic with minimal signs of use. Over the years. there has been some paintwork due to a couple minor parking lot incidents. The panels are all original and visually you cannot tell. The paint was checked with a paint meter and there are no signs of filler. The wheels look fantastic and have been recently refinished. They wear new Michelins. The brakes are near new as well. The interior is equally as nice. The leather looks great with no tears or stains. The carpet. headliner. and door panels look like new. The dash is perfect with no cracks or warping. There are no unusual odors. All the gauges and buttons operate properly. The A/C blows ice cold. This turbo comes with all the books. lots of records. spare tire. took kit. air compressor. emergency triangle. first aid kit. and an extra key. *Note: There are two accidents reported on Autocheck in 2002 and 2003. Since then. the car was inspected by some of the top shops in Southern California: Callas Rennsport. Hergesheimer Motorsports. and TruSpeed. All of deemed that incidents were minor and superficial. There was no structural damage. Even an inspection by the local Porsche dealer and they couldn't find any signs of accident repair.
