Detailed item info Model OverviewThe 2009 Bentley Continental Flying Spur is powered by a 6. 0L aluminum-alloy. twin-turbo W12 engine--a unique 12-cylinder design that utilizes four cylinder banks to achieve a very compact size. It makes 551 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. which is enough to accelerate to 60 mph in only 4. 9 seconds and to a top speed of 195 mph--making it one of the fastest sedans in the world. All Flying Spurs also get a full-time all-wheel drive system to deliver the power smoothly. through a 6-speed automatic transmission. That much power and speed requires good brakes; Bentley claims the huge ventilated discs to be the largest on any production car for sale today. The steering is precise for such a large car; it's surprisingly maneuverable for a 209-inch-long car. with a turning circle of less than 39 feet. Bentley added a new Speed edition of the Flying Spur for 2009. It features a more powerful version of the same 6. 0L W12. but it makes 600 horsepower and 553 lb-feet of torque. The Speed also features a lower-riding high performance suspension. A unique leather interior. special wheels and 3-spoke monotone steering wheel distinguish it further from other Flying Spurs. Outside of its recognizable Bentley front end and imposing road presence. the Flying Spur's roomy. luxurious interior is what really brings buyers to the model. It features hides in many different colors. along with several different wood veneers. all natural. unbleached. and hand-lacquered. with mirror-image grain symmetry in each car. The center console features a distinctive Breitling timepiece. while the steering wheel boasts hand-stitched leather trim. pedals are finished with stainless-steel covers and the air vents have real chrome handles. The Flying Spur includes all of the high-end luxury equipment that you would find in the over-$100. 00 price range. such as separate rear climate-control settings. power latches for all doors. lumbar-adjustable front seats and a screen-driven control system that includes navigation features. Like other Bentley models. Flying Spurs are very well equipped. and options are treated as a means of personalizing the car. Upgraded 20-inch wheels. knurled-chrome trim. an alloy fuel-filler cap. premium Chestnut and Olive Ash veneers. front-seat lumbar massaging. a power trunklid. a TV tuner. Sirius satellite radio. a heated. hide-trimmed steering wheel are all available. An optional audiophile Naim stereo is newly availably for 2009. and includes an 1100-watt amplifier and 13 speakers.
