Very rare & collectable modern Rolls-Royce from America's #1 classic RR supplier

Here is a very unique and interesting Rolls-Royce that holds a special place in modern Rolls-Royce history. The Silver Spur "Springfield" edition was named in recognition of when Rolls-Royces were assembled in Springfield, st1>Massachusetts. That year being 1921 and as such, n 1996 Rolls-Royce created 21 of these special edition Springfields in recognition of the 75th anniversary. It appears, owever, 7 became the final number. They were made in cooperation with famous coach-builders; Mulliner Park-Ward.
Distinguishing features of this rare model include;

· A small, raditional opera-style rear window

· Special "vintage-period" colour combinations

· Madrona veneer, herry crossbanding, oxwood inlay treatment of all interior wood

· Chrome instrument bezels.

· Chrome bezelled clock added to rear centre console

· Commemorative Madrona veneer plaque with inlaid gold inscription celebrating Springfield 75th anniversary to front of Centre console

· A stainless steel commemorative plaque to drivers door treadplate.

· Extra chrome finishers on the front bumper.

· Very unique tufter leather interior (chesterfield style) to retrospect Rolls-Royce coach-work of the 1920s. This encompasses front and rear seats, eadlining and door armrests.

Each colour combination was chosen in accordance with the colour schemes of the original Springfield cars. These were known as:

· Buckingham - black/grey

· Pickwick - black/green

· Canterbury - black/blue

· Mayfair - black/maroon

· Stratford - cream/white

These are shown below.

This particular Springfield is number 10 in the series and is in the "Pickwick" colour combination; black over Spruce green. It has black Connolly hides with Spruce green accented piping and floor rugs with overlay green lambs-wool moutons. The Spruce green floor rug theme carries thru to the boot. This particular example has the unique addition of colour coordinated beauty rings to the wheel caps, hich is a lovely point of distinction.
This was a Canadian delivered car and is a 1 owner from new. It presents in excellent and immaculate condition.
Her condition is amazing throughout and the best way to describe her is to pretend you are in the year 2000 and you are buying this 1996 from your Rolls-Royce showroom floor; this its condition!
The Silver Spur is powered by a 6.75 litre Rolls-Royce designed V8 engine with the Bosch fuel injecton system. This is what is known as a 50,000 series car (VIN# 58,205) so it contains all the engineering and electrical improvements of the model and is considered the best of the SZ series (Silver Spirit/Spur/Bentley series 1981-1997).
This one is a well maintained example with a good clean AutoCheck history.

The car has been part of a private collection and in the last 10 years had been climate control stored as part of a vast array of Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor cars. The collection was maintained by a full-time Rolls-Royce trained curator and was subject to very regular and uncompromised maintenance. It shows all the hallmarks of a perfect example in this regard. It was originally a Canadian delivered car (fully USDOT compliant) so the odometer shows in kilometres. The mileage shown is actually quite mind boggling because it indicates some 99,000 (conveted from klms) when the car truly looks like a 30,000 mile example. There is no mileage indicated on the AutoCheck report and I have often seriously wondered if the car had a defective speedometer at some stage that was replaced with a used one showing the higher miles (these late SZ car odometers are difficult to recalibrate). This is only a guess and although the condition of the car clearly indicates much lower mileage we are required by law to present the car with its indicated mileage.
It has recently been thru Park-Ward's workshop, ully inspected, nd anything requiring doing attended to. Mechanically, his car needs nothing and is entirely up to date on its services. Under the bonnet, he presentation is amazing. It has not been precision detailed but simply kept clean and tidy throughout its life.
The body of the car is straight and the paint deep in lustre and consistency. Upon walking around the car, t is hard to find anything but the tiniest of blemishes.It appears to be all original. The paint it is very shiny without any fading, ents or dings and certainly presents beautifully for show and general driver use. Mouldings, adges and external fittings are all in good condition.
The interior on this car is simply stunning. The Connolly leather shows beautifully and is completely original. It has never been re-dyed or messed with and yet remainssuper soft and supple without any signs ofwear. The wood throughout is excellent and all original showing only very minor marks on the top piece of the driver's and right rear passenger door (clearly shown in the photos). The rest of the wood; dash, onsole and other doors are flawless. Carpets, eats, ash, eadlining and fixtures are truly excellent and I best encourage you to look at all the photos to fully appreciate how nicely the interior presents. There are close up photographs of the controls and these look like new.
As part of Park-Ward's maintenance program, ll electricals and features & functions have been inspected so everything is operating as it should; windows, eats, irrors, /C, eater, ights, ipers, tc. Right down to every light bulb in the dash. This is a true, take the keys and drive" example with no additional budget needed to attend to any nuances or gremlins.
This is clearly a car that has been owned by a conscientious (and wealthy!)private collector type owner, o it has all the signs of a well-maintained example. It is tight to drive, owerful to drive, rakes strong and rides as a Rolls-Royce should. In the fall of 2015, he car was driven from Illinois to Florida for the 2015 Rolls-Royce National meet, nd did it effortlessly without a single issue. The car took out a "recognition ribbon" at the event.
This 1996 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur "Springfield Edition" car is of very high standard and is an easy 10 out of 10 driver rating. She is 100% factory original in specification in every respect.

Although licensed and bonded, am not a main-stream retail car dealer or broker; I am a professional car collector of some 30 years with considerable experience and knowledge of Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor Cars. I have a long standing reputation being associated with the marque which I take seriously. I take pride in my cars and have fun in collecting and restoring them. By comparison, y cars are generally superior to others available but they are by no means perfect. You must expect some issues. Unless specifically stated, he car is not of show standard but of nice "driver" condition. Please understand, how cars of this model cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to achieve and sell for prices commensurate, o the sale price of this car reflects its relative condition. You are buying "condition" accordingly. Buyers should not expect to receive concours quality or "perfect" cars at these prices. Please also understand, he very nature of these classic Rolls-Royces is such that it is not always possible to attend to every item, r perhaps I may have inadvertently overlooked items. Further, nd very importantly, hese cars are classic cars also because they are old. So this means a 20 year old car is predominantly comprised of 20 year old parts. And old parts will fail. All buyers must understand and expect that things can or will wear out, reak and/or stop functioning without notice. This is even more likely with hand-built English cars of early technology when compared to the typical American car of the same vintage. Please note, itted radio/stereo systems are usually subject to upgrade by purchasers so I do not ensure operation of these. Similarly, ruise control systems fitted to these classics were of an inferior design and I do not check or warrant the operation of these. Suspension and brakes on these cars are complex. We thoroughly check them and replace things that are identified faulty. But please understand, y example; if we change a brake line because it appears aged or faulty, e do NOT at the same time replace all other hoses because they are of similar age. This is considered "preventative maintenance". We do not do this unless specifically requested and is not included in the purchase price. Feel free to ask for this additional service. Further, feature or function that is working perfectly one moment, ay decide to play-up the next. After all, t is some 20 years old. I am sorry if these terms seem harsh but there seem to be some very unrealistic buyers out there - fortunately, nly few of these people exist but those that do can make life difficult, o it appears EVERYTHING needs to spelled out. Very simply put, his is an old car being offered for sale. It is not new and is subject to the perils of age. Further, olls-Royces are not without nuances, diosyncrasies and they are renown for a host of design issues which can make them not inexpensive to maintain. This is well documented in many circles. You need to be a special and considerate type of purchaser to own a Rolls-Royce. Their down-side is part of the fun in owning them! As the old saying goes; "we love to hate them and hate to love them!" So, lease respect the terms and conditions when you bid.
