I prefer this set up as it truly transforms the car making it a true joy to drive all day. Any original parts will come with the car and the new owner will also have the option to buy the Extra and Rare parts I have stocked away. Over the years I have owned several Mercedes and BMW collector cars. none of them have transported you back in time and gotten more complements that this car has. It's been a pure joy to own. There is much information available on these cars but I thought I might share just a bit from Roy Spencer. editor of Mercedes Heritage. com . Are They Collectible? - My philosophy is that any extremely well preserved original pre-1974 Stroke 8 is collectible. The caveat here is “extremely well preserved. ” . A heavily neglected Stoke 8 will not find a buyer as prices do not support any significant refurbishing – not even for a coupe. However. a highly preserved example is absolutely collectible and surprisingly rare. Highly distressed examples become parts cars and often are simply left to die. I’m certain a spotless original 220D would find an enthusiastic buyer as would any highly preserved example of the range. And of course an immaculate 250C / 280C would be the most collectible of the series Driving the Stroke 8 - What about the driving experience? After using my 1973 280C regularly and spending the entire August Monterey week in the car. I can say the car is absolutely suitable for regular. comfortable use. With an enormous trunk. spacious interior environment and compact design. a sorted Stroke 8 rewards its driver with relaxed comfortable touring. My only complaints would be the slightly over-assisted power steering. typically soft suspension settings and…and…that’s about it! Visibility is excellent and parking is a cinch. Is this a respectable Mercedes classic? During my auction inspections in Monterey I parked my dark olive green 280C in downtown Monterey in front of a grigio metallic (Anthracite) Ferrari 360 Modena (one of the hordes of 360s that engulf Monterey each year). I popped in to a cafe for a mocha and watched as people walked by the cars. 80% of the passersby ignored the 360 and paused at the cool Stroke 8 coupe for a better look. Enough said. - Roy Spencer. editor Mercedes Heritage. com Also if you would like to compare what some other extremely well preserved examples look like and sell for a good source is Mercedes Heritage. com and Mercedes Motoring. com On Mar-08-15 at 22:16:58 PDT. seller added the following information: Tags - W115 W108 W109 W111 W113 R107 Cabriolet Cab 190 190D 220 220D 220A 220SE SE 220SEB SEB 230 240 240D 250 250SE 250SEB 280 280C 280SL 280SE 300 300E 500E E500 E320 400E 300SE 300SD 300CE 300SEL 300SL 300CD 300G 300GD 350 350SL 300SL 380 380SL 380S 380SE 400SL 450 450SL 500 500SL 500Se 500SEL 500S S500 SL500 560 560SL SL300 SL320 SL600 600SL SEL 6. 3 6. 9 600 restoration SL 190 190SL 230 230SL Pagoda ROADSTER CLASSIC SE SEL oldtimer old timer youngtimer young diesel 2. 5 2. 8 3. 0 3. 5 straight 6-cylinder 2. 8L Long Wheel Base 4. 5 4. 5L SLC 280CE CE AMG TD CD G-Class G Class Wagon turbo Td TDT 3. 0 500SEC 560SEC SEC 2. 3 G230 G300 G320 G500 SDL Manual Euro Sunroof matching Hard Top Convertible Restored Coupe showroom condition W121 LWB
